This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Just one look at this wall and you can see why it deserves to be highlighted.
The attention to detail and the sexy vector work make it enjoyable to people who love the series or not. the color scheme is soft yet vibrant, and it's just a sharp piece of work. While it may not be one of those insane walls that wows you, it's one of those other subtle walls easy to pass by, but when you really look at it, it WILL wow you. Take a minute to stop and appreciate this wall for all it's worth in detail and beauty.
This wall has been tormenting me for the past 3 months.
Believe me, vectoring this was hell - even if I vectored on and off. You can probably see it in the crazy outlines. No wonder why no one used this scan before x___x
As a result, I now h.a.t.e. roses and will for the next few months. XD
Anywayz, the main point of this wall, was to give it to brom for his birthday (which I really hate to admit, but was in November last year xD). Due to my final exams, I started the wall, after his birthday. I'm so sorry brom but here it is at last. Consider it your early birthday present for this year as well XD XD XD
More about the actual wall. Most of it was done on Illustrator 10 over countless hours (doing outlines mainly) and the cloud pattern was rendered on PS7. It's really an uncreative wallpaper - it's pretty much the original scan made to a wall, BUT! I had to draw half the wall by hand on th computer through 3 steps - basic sketch (PS7), refined sketch (Illustrator) and then final vector (Illustrator). It was a pain doing my own roses and that's why you'd see the difference on the right half the wall - far too much stalks. <_<
It's uncreative. I've warned you, so don't complain. Most ideas just came straight from the scan (thanks to nat who submitted it on AP). I just added all the extra bits and if there was one original idea, it's the figure of Jun on the right. Btw, I also scrubbed the title on the wall. It just looked weird so I got rid of it.
That's pretty much it. Too much talk. Btw, comments are welcome. I haven't had time to check with someone else - everyone's offline T_T
One more thing. If I see anyone rip this, I will rip them apart limb by limb!
EDIT: Lots of people didn't like the clouds so I got rid of it. It actually looks okay just with a solid colour. Well, enjoy! EDIT2: There was a weird red blob in the tree which rocksta just mentioned. Didn't know myself xD Well, fixed it up just now.
Wow this is a really nice wallpaper. As Kalico has meantioned the reason for highlighting it really gives that 'wow' factor when you open it up in full view. I can understand why this vector would have taken such a long time. I am only just learning to vector..eek hard work...It is very detailed and I love the roses very pretty. Very nice use of colour too. ^^-Shira
What more can I say other than that this wallpaper has a really soft colour which
may not sting your eyes even though you have been staring at it for hours... Or
maybe days. I must admit it is a really good wallpaper, I really liked the silohuette
of the boy pontagonist(what was his name again?). Which also includes those
fresh-from-paper wood patterns in his side. The Rozen Maidens on the front
surrounded by the roses makes you remember of the anime title. Rozen... Rose..
You should get what I meant by now. Anyhow, even though it has soft colours
and is really nice to look at, the roses lost its beauty, in my opinion. Roses are
supposed to be striking red and blazing with life. In this case, it looks as if it was
somewhat... Withering. No offense, but that's what I think, though it is totally is
a really good wall. Good job on the whole idea, and consideration of making it into
soft colour, though it does not really impress me that much.
