This wallpaper gives us a perfect example of how a simple manga scan can be turned into a beautiful vector. Not only did danalm trace the lineart, but he also added amazing details and a simple, yet wonderful background. Furthermore, the wallpaper shows us how the monochromatic style can make your work look really interesting.
Lol Really? Wow You always seem to Surprise me tide-kun. Well hey im going to get some food and think about the nickname i'll make for you *Huggles* Take care Buddy Bai Bai =]
I suppose I could be doing two Kino no Tabi Novel Illustration series: the Chapter Illustration series of black-and-white art (although some of them I have colored afterwards) and the Frontispiece series (containing color artwork.) If so, this would be the second, the first being "Angel?" Anyhow, this is one of the color pages from the frontispiece story, "A Tale of a Tank -- LIFE GOES ON" from novel 6. Fans of the anime will remember a short story of a tank related in the Country of Books episode as well. The idea is that this tank has been wandering through the forests, trying to fulfill the last orders of his fallen Commander - to find an enemy tank with three red stripes on its back and a white tapir/pig on its turret. The thing the tank doesn't realize is that IT has the stripes and the tapir - it is hunting itself. A story of irony and futility, which is an apt symbol of war itself.
I like Kuroboshi's frontispiece artwork because so often it's got a wonderfully crisp, flat style that works perfectly for vector artwork. Plus, the framing of the image using the tree trunks in the foreground set a really nice tone. I saw this picture when I was scanning the artbook for the Novel Illustration series, and decided to trace this drawing, too.

Ahh, my only complaint is that unless you've seen the series or read what you wrote, both of which I've done but most people fail to do, it would be rather difficult to tell it was a tank. The vector is a little rough for your usual style, but its a great piece nontheless.
P.S. I have noticed your personal huge library on Kino walls, I was browsing through it just yesterday.
When I looked at the wall and then the title and you know what. Bam an anti-tank round hit me like a nothing, because I saw this story. It's about a wandering ghost tank seeking his enemy with a claw mark or something. By the way walls nice, the color makes it as if you're in some story told by someone else.
Kool its that tank from the story! once i seen the preview of this wall i knew rite away...i love that story! lol You did a really nice job on this wallpaper too...its really crisps and clean...Good Job!

Have a nice day!
If religion is that which binds men to one another, and irreligion that which sunders, then must I testify that I found the religion of my country in its musical genius and its irreligion in its churches and drawing rooms.
