This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Marcella, if you're older that's just the reaction you can expect from your parents. They think it's okay for a xx-year-old to do such things but a older person should know better. That doesn't mean they love you less ;)
MarceLLa if your older then thats just the way it is.if u've done nothing wrong to ake them hate you then y would they?if your older then they know you can handle the situation
It was very clear from what I said earlier. That is concrete proof that they love her more than they wil ever love me. Hopefully they won't coz thinking of that creeps me out.
Alright, so, originally, I was going to talk about how I made this for my man to pair with the Armstrong wall, and how I could care less that it has no real connection to Gluttony. Instead, I'm going to share my bitter observations with you, even though I'm sure only about three of you will read this.
I love how, to make one person feel great about their wall, you shoot down someone else, or, to try and give someone a useful criticism, you use your boosted ego from the few walls that appeal to the mass and favs but weren't particularly inventive, to point out how, they just aren't worth it. I love the lack of trust because of acquaintainces, and I love when others decide that this whole thing is a contest to see who's best, so I obviously need a grade to see how much you don't like my wall. I love the novel being overlooked for the already done (no matter how impressive the effort), and the minimally cleaned up scans being praised as gospel. Don't get me wrong; the scans that were actually recreated piece for piece? They're impressive, because of the time and patience it took to do it. As able as I am to do that, I never would.
That's all I'm going to say on the matter. I'm not trying to target. I've seen it in a couple of places, so don't post asking if it's this waller or that. I don't want you to come talking to me about it, because frankly, I don't give a f*ck. I'll ignore you. Go ahead and talk about it here; I'll still ignore you. If you're offended, I'm somewhat sorry. But opinion is a matter of perspective. You have yours, I have mine. I'm not leaving, or anything like that. I just wanted to get this out. And that's it. I'm done.
WALL EDIT: Derek thought the yellow looked funny, so I made the moon and stuff blue.
XD *runs away*
the wall's lovelyur comment is true in some people ive observed..
we've talked already so lol not much to say anymore xD
loves for the wall

Hohoho! This is truly amazin'
I would call it art XD
U did some awesome job here. When i look at this wall i get so many feelings. This scenery is absolutely perfectly made. The different coulr/pattern powerlines are the best part. The bird with the letters and colours looks like a fragment of a newspaper. Don't know what to say, it's a sure +fav for me.
keep this up, hope to see more walls from u, i love the style
Well said mate but i would of said it in less words :)
interesting wallie
like the idea but i think you should of blended gluttony into the bg and said a black or red glow around him like hes super saiyon
lol
anyway well done
a touch her and there and i would make a huge impact

*is scared..* Someone is angry.. Back to the wall- OMG PARTY STREAMERS! And IMO Gluttony is so cute.. When he's not angry. Anywayz the idea is so cool.. ^^
An unexpected use of FMA...definitely eye-catching in a good way
I absolutely love how you did the streams of patterns...the text stream is a great contrast that is balanced out with the text in the bird and the subtle text on the wire (out of curiosity...what is the text from?)
The background is clean and flat in a way that really works with the character and overall design...and I love the color scheme
Gluttony makes it a creepy wall and also makes me search for hidden meaning
Nice atempt with varied textures esp. the typography line closest to the right. The one with the bird kinda fails it because of the contrast of b&w and stiff outlines I know you put a white bg on the text for variation but it lacks the creativity of the other lines. Btw this is great vector work, nice and flat.
On your drama - lol. Back to basics is where you need to go, these are just animewallpapers, not art. Even if I wrote pages and pages of bullshit I couldn't even pretend that animewalls are postmodern recontextualisation.
What we're doing is closer to graphic design - playing with a given media (a scan, say) to create something of set size (4:3 or 16:10 ratio desktop wallpaper) to achieve an aesthetic in the consumer (wp dl'ers) that they would then want to use this image on their desktop.
Now what I believe your problem's source is the fact that there is probably only a handful of members in the community that post, crit and +fav walls who knew or could even understand what I just said.
So what we have is people like White Zero with their own view, aesthetic, or artistical appreciation towards their own work which is often different to that of the commenter and +fav'er. This obviously would create unease/ anger as White Zero seems to spend more of his author comments on shitting down someone's throat instead of talking about how he made the crap on my screen (I dislike his stuff, bl).
We also have people who just turn up to animewall community for the drama and friendslist, who comment and +fav walls with little, next to none understanding of the word "aesthetic" but do understand that there is hot anime girl on their desktop, thanks to the awesome pro 'skillz' of semanga who is also a 'grrrrlllll' who entices their pubercesant brains with the fact that zomg, they could have a chance with her not just because she can't see their face but mainly since pretending you're a nice person on the internet isn't that hard with lots of posts and acting like you care... OK, the forums are now down the drain and crit is close to meaningless.
Then we have the 'pros of the animewall world', which does sound pretty stupid but they somehow seem to take themselves seriously. The pros may have skill and an clue on how to get people to like their walls, but they're rarely actually making something people want to use on their desktop, just something that people want to comment and +fav on. It seems everyone outside of the animewall community hates text, cliches (sakura petals, sunsets) and scenic walls with no icon space. Yet the community's wise members seem to hold up these 'traditions' with +favs and cheap shit comments like "OMG LOLZ KAWAiI".
The main problem however is what they are creating.
Another night, the pros sit on the forum, chatobox or irc, talking like everyone in the room gives a fuck. "They're so dreamy, I wish I was as good at animewalling as them so I could talk like that.", as disgusting as this sentence is, it is the most common incentive to post wallpapers amoung the rest of the members or 'lurkers'. So what do these people do to get to their goal? Build off what they see, not just following trends but acting like these people too, leading to more and more walls that only the community can appreciate. We now have a community that can't even complete it's own specialty properly. OLOL.
Oh snap I just typed for 30 minutes when this will more than likely be deleted since I'm actually using the crit box to be a critic. OLOL.

Whoa, so many rants. Guys you should take making wallpapers for what it is, an hobby, and hobbies are supposed to be fun. So just keep making what you like to do and give a nice middle finger to those who rant at you, you're really taking these things too seriously, heh.
Anyway, I like the combination of colors you went for. For some reason it reminds me a lot of the way backgrounds used to be drawn in the good old 60's cartoons (looney toons, disney's and so on), which were over-simplistic like that and had those funky color combinations. One thing, maybe I'd make that bird a little smaller, though maybe you just want it to be that big so that people can read the text inside (I'm guessing eh) but whatever, still cool. :)
The wall looks a lot balanced now that you've changed the colors. I know very little about FMA. Is he standing on a intercom (I'm not sure if thats the term to use lol)? I like to think the strings symbolize communication; at least, thats what I get from it . I would fav this, but there's just something about the character I don't like lol XD.
Read the rant. I've thought about similar things as well...
Since we all know what you are capable of when you design; this is a decent one from you gid.
Love the flow of the lyrics and the overall composition...I don't like the tone of that blue btw *hides*
But anyways; unusual and good stuff.
And about the ranting; wow! you re angry O_O
I totally agree with most of the stuff. Try not to think about those though...

The use of texture is great, and although the extraction/vector (Im having a hard time telling) is a bit rough it can easily be overlooked.
Also, everything you said is very true, greatly spoken, although a slightly guilty of some scan reconstructions..haha, they don't get as much attention as the ones that aren't though..haha.
I also really like the quirky quality of this wall. It's brilliant. The cut-out pieces give it a unique, vintage, literary feel. hehe, I keep trying to read the text on the bird.
It's interesting to see how more than one are trying to open our little comunity's eyes on the quite terrible competition happening. I realize how I myself am competitive and sometimes probably say some things that are not only mean and absurd but completely useless to destroy others ( ehe ~_~ ). but in another way I'm not sure that removing all of the competitive spirit would be such a good idea. After all, it pushes us to do greater things, and to get better. But I definately agree on the fact that it puts too much stress on some wallers.
onto the wall:
Again I'm amazed at how original the concept and color scheme is. Truly interesting work with the patterns and flat collage style. I really am starting to adore you lol.
