This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
I've been wanting to make a Tsuiokuhen wallpaper for a long time [it's my favourite anime] but whatever I began ended up a disaster....for my tastes at least
I found the scan here......spent an hour or so cleaning it
Anywayz, the wallpaper was quite simple though it took a bit of time to make [5-6 hours]. The mountains/sea were generated using Terragen [I hope to get a hang of this sometime >.<] and the rest are brushes [from www.strangeangels.net ....have I mentioned how much I love this site? XD]
Then I tried using different textures 'till I got what you see.
Hope you like it :)
UPDATE:
I tried using colours and I guess it turned out better than before...thnx for the recommendation people ^^
I also removed the scar.....I remebered I had flipped the scan while I was writting an exam a few hours ago XD
UPDATE 2:
Decided to make it a sunset scene.....I used a picture I had taken a few months ago....
Well its nice, but could use a little something
the sepia effect somehow kills all the detail, not to mention the colors
something should compensate that to make the wall lively and exciting again
decent work anyhow
Changing it to color makes it pop so much more, i like the texture and everything and overall it's a nice job, too much birds I think though and maybe the grass sticks out a bit too much, maybe if it was blended with a a bit more green or brown shades. Those are minor but regardless of that it's a really peacefull kenshin wall, great job!
Nice wp. i think you did a pretty good job. the scan is alittle too blurry but not so much that i wouldn't download the wp. i think there could've been abit more detail in the "valley". i know it's supposed to be misty but there's just a bit too much empty space. maybe reposition the text? anyways, super awesome wallpaper :)

The thumbnail instantly catches my attention. But at full view, there are lot of things need fixing..
the background is too blurred out. Kenshin looks sharp, but the bluriness of the background separates him from it.
You mentioned that you made the bg using Terragen.. I think the result should already be sharper. To match the terragen render result with the anime style, you can use 'cutout' filter, or 'median' filter, and since you used a texture, it would look much better compared to using excessive gaussian blur.
And I think the birds are too much... lol... try randomizing the placement, or reducing the number.
Great concept, but the execution can be better.
And.. is it me, or Kenshin isn't properly extracted? There are small, white areas, either caused by that, or by somekind of outer glow... most noticeably in his hair.
Oh my . Just as Pom said. You are so LoL!How many times will you change it huh? Decide!!!
I like the wall dude, but most of all i like the Monochrome-sepia colour one (the one i see at animeXtreme )
Tha must be the first time I tell you to keep sth monochromatic! XD
Thumbs up dude! And fav ofcourse (giati eisai ellinas alliws siga mi sou baza XD ~ de 8a er8w sto meet diabasma)

Wow I absolutely LOVE the texture on the bkg - just little picky notes: the grass looks a bit awkward and the image could've been cropped/cleaned to perfection :)
I don't know what it looked like before, but this final result is amazing, the scenery is like a painting, the texture fits really well, i also like the varied colors in the grass and the sunset is awesome, kenshin fits into it perfectly too
Good use of texture here I see, well done, but the only thing I do not like is that character is at the left, I have to move my icons right instead. XD
The rest is all good, kinda blurry on the character's side, the background saved the whole wall by making it more like a canvas piece.
Wooww... i really love this Wallpaper
because kenshin is one of my favorite characteres..
but you need work more in this wall, bcause the Bg looks so blurred...
but is a good work... ahve nice concept
Hmm great kenshin wallpaper. It has that old school look to it but the only thing that bothered me was it's a little blurry oh wellz awesome wallpaper.
