This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Seeing as I had nothing to do on the long weekend called Easter, I was digging out some random stuff from the dark corners of my HDD... needless to say, I stumbled upon tons and tons of unfinished .psds. This was one of them. A lucky one.
I started this a long, long while back... way before my last Harima wall. It was just another thing to practice my vectoring skills (which still sux0rz) and I had intended to do something that I like oh-so-much... with random arrows and splashes and circles and whatnot - but no, I decided to do something else. A stage! Well. Yeah. I had an earlier version of this that I started but it started getting crappy and I just gave up on it... so I restarted basically the whole thing.
Hoookay. So. Lacus and the Haro's were vectored (I made the Haros other than Pinky...) in Illustrator and the rest was done in Photoshop. If you couldn't tell, the things in front are like... the stage. And the round lumps are... light... things... or smoke-maker. Whatever your imagination thinks it is. Then random light beams in the background. THe back, back, back ground is actually a crowd of people. Yes, that's right. Randomly placed different sized and coloured circles that represent PEOPLE... and looK! Some of them have glowsticks! Awesome.
It looked plain when I was about to submit it, so I shamelessly stole the musical notes from the Harima wall and slapped them on. ...and it was complete!
P.S: Textless fine as it is?
{EDIT}
Yeah, I forgot to mention that the Korean redirector domain thing kinda... doesn't work anymore. Not like I update my site anyways... but as of now, I'm a homeless waller... as it says on the wall. ;__; Hopefully I'll revive the site and find somewhere nice in the summer... but for now, you can find my walls here... except I haven't made more than one resolution for the last... 10 walls. Conclusion? Use 1280*1024 like I do!
Aw, kawaii wallpaper! i love that chibi of lacus! and the wallpaper is good quality too! you did a good job with the vectoring. also, the background is nice. lol, glowsticks. really detailed, and gives off the image of an excited concert, or something. me likey! keep up the good work!
Wow! I made a Lacus wallpaper using the same picture like that. Though I must admit your was way better, but not to mention you made your first. ^__^ My wallpaper had Lacus on stage, but not very lively because it's suppose to be peaceful and quite. If you want to see it then you can see at the bottom for a resized one I made for a cetain community.
Though I like yours because even though the vector might need a little more improving, but Lacus looks a little darker to get this live feeling of when she's singing. Plus when you added the smoke clouds they looked wonderful. I can see so much effort in this wallpaper and especially when the lighting effects really looked real.
Every now and then, I get an appetite for a good chibi wall. Yours satisfies excellently. The color scheme works amazingly well, and the music notes are a high point. Hail to the cuteness!
Very nice! I like the bright colours that you used in this wallpaper a lot! The vectors look great too. Nice and clear! It's such a happy scene you have chosen too. She looks so cute SD like that! Makes me feel happy! Well done! Favorite!
