This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
This is my 4th wall, and yes its no more fate/ stay night. The motivation of making this wall is the vectorness april theme contest. The contest's theme is rain, and i was thinking fate/ stay night isn't suitable so i tried my luck in elfen lied scan gallery. This is how i got this scan hehe, i like the positioning of lucy and the lightings on her in the scan. Thanks neon84 for the scan.
I've like to vector so vectoring is no problem.^^ The bg is the thing that give me trouble. The main bg was a stock photo,at first i've tried a abstract one but it doesnt really blends in well. I've played with the fliters and blendings toget the bg to be more anime-like. Since putting the vector over the the bg lacks of depth and makes the vector looks oversized, as suggestied by blu3angl in SZ, i've added in some tree trunks and some grass in the fore/midgrounds. Had not much problem with the rain too, just that the rain droplets on lucy is abit tricky. the rain was made by a tut found at www.tutorialized.com. Thanks beckor for the suggestion of the bg. Thanks to other comments made by the shellova, chibicrystal and yulaw in SZ i were able to correct the lightings problem and to blend in the bg and the vector more well.
For the title, i got it from the scan as well hehe. "Lilium" is the opening for elfen lied, and since i'm doing a wall based on this scan which somehow represents the theme song, i decided to name it "for Lilium".
Hmm the style of the wall is still the same, hope that i can come out with new styles when i got the ideas. Hope you guys like it.
[Edit]Did not add the nipples as shown on the scan, it looks ugly anyway :)
*Updates -Rain is now more obvious.
Good job, reversedge!
In my opinion it's one of the few (non generic) Elfenlied wallpapers. Love your work here! :)
Everything fits very well and the whole atmosphere is as depressing as the anime... (I've seen it the first time this week)
I do agree with you on certain aspects on what SHOULDN'T of been included in Elfen Lied. The series DID try to be a few things that it shouldn't of when it was dealing with the darker nature of humanity, but I guess it helped to serve to lighten the load. I guess it's all up to the person cause this is one of my favorite shows of all time.
As for the wall, I've stated it over and over again, but I'll say it once more. This wall is purely a masterpiece. I absolutely adore the background the most. It greatly reminds me of the opening art (and I didn't know that it was influenced by Klimt until Lilac told me about it =3) and I absolutely ADORE the opening art. The lighting, the texture, the swirls. Everything is just simply flawlessly brought together to form this beautiful and perfect masterpiece. What I love even more is you stripped what would make this wallpaper only for a few (her nipples are showing in the original scan) and made it for everyone. That's the kind of artwork I love, something that can be easily viewed by everyone. Overall, this is a work of art, a pure genius masterpiece and the best Elfen Lied wall I have ever seen. I'm especially inlove with the textless version of this wall.
Congrats, Candy, you are the goddess of walling =3. Btw, the solitude theme fits perfectly with this wall. Especially when you think of Lucy during her child and teen years. Absolutely perfect.
I can see why no one guessed correctly. Even I wouldn't think this would be your work. :D
Wow! I was amazed by this. I mean the background was very unique when you got the idea from the scan. You gave a nice gradient and decorations to make this wallpaper stand out.
Despite the nudity it's a beautiful art. I'm glad you didn't add those "unmentionable" details to it because it would seem distracting if you know what I mean. :D You vectored the outlines very smoothly and got the shade areas perfectly. :3 The texture you added for the skin gave a nice touch to it. I'm glad you made those markings around her stand out because it made the wallpaper interesting and unique too. :D
This definately deserves fave because I can't see how would a wallpaper like this not be an eye-catcher
