After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!
Been working on this for awhile now, though it still doesn't fit the the vision I had for it. The sakura trees are manipulated from this scan. The rest of the background is brush made, with the exception of the water -- that is a combo of brushes, stock photography and filters. Comments and criticism are greatly needed.
Excellent wall!! i love the background and all...love the water and the Sakura Tree...the effects of the light, the moonlight, they look real... and you only used brushes and stuff for the background...whoaaa...it doesn't seem like the way it is tho, very well done!! sasuga~!! ^^ more of all, the scan fits so well with the background...
very awesome job!! definitely gonna add this to fav!! x)
It just proves that sometimes a good sence of style is more than enough.
Whithout any flashy addons (stupid wings or writings that take half of the screen) You've made an excellent wallpaper/best one i've seen this week.
Nice!
OMG! THat is sooo beautiful! I really love it! Especially the water, the moon and the Sakura tree make it very pretty! The moonlight and the background is superb! Definitley love the night-time scene! This is an instant fav! Keep up the good work!
Since you're asking for critiques, I'll bring critique:
- The 'cloud' covering the top-left side of the moon looks pretty odd colored, or rather, it's simply too saturated with color, considering it's a night scene.
- The rock (the one the girl is sitting on) is.. weird? It looks like you basically pasted a texture on a shape that would resemble a rock. That doesn't work. Textures should be the last ultimate resource when drawing anime-like background. Pretty much all of the textures that you see in that kind of background are usually achieved with a simple grainy/spatter/dotted brush, something that's among Photoshop default brushes, in case you didn't know. With proper celshading and that brush set with the proper opacity and flow settings (according to what kind of lighting, depth and detail you want to give it) you can obtain a far better result than just 'filling' a shape with a texture most likely grabbed from a stock photo. Or even better, you could simply draw the rock and do the basic cel-shading, most of the background artists in anime industry don't use textures anyway (only for camera close-ups) in most cases anyway.
- The farthest tree needs to be adjusted as well. As you can see yourself (since you drew it XD) you rightly and correctly blended the vegetation that is on the other side of the lake, coloring with a sublte purple colour. Now why didn't you do the same for the tree? As it's shown you placed the tree behind that line of vegetation so that hints that most likely the tree will have a similar level of darkness (making it blend with the background) as much as that line of grass has. It kind of makes no sense to have a correct blending and then suddenly a tree that has the same lighting as the trees that are closer to the girl. Get the idea?
And that's it. I don't know if I pinpointed anything I could, this is just pretty much what I noticed at a first sight.
You did everything except for the water? Wow that's amazing! ^^. I really love this wallpaper and the view it has like the moon and where the girl is sitting at it's just so pleasing and calm ^^. Nice job! *Adding to favs*
Hehe, lovely scene, lovely setting, lovely composition, lovely choice of scan. I'd expect nothing less of you, a trully brilliant wallpaper. Well worthy of a favourite! Excellent work!
