As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!
Not, hard really if you are comfortable in an application that can do vector graphics. For this contest I understand we have to pick a monochrome or black and white scan and then vector it with color, sadly nothing I am currently watching has any scans
It is SO easy. Just pick out the stones, put them on jewelry wire, and add a clasp. Sometimes putting the clasp on can be a bit tricky. I just read a little book on how to do it. I've taken some classes, like making earrings and using free form wire

it won "outstanding entry" which was more like 2nd place by looking at the scores.
basically, we were given an amano scan, and did what we wanted with it. and to be honest, i despised the scan we were given. i hated it with every fiber of my being, and her eyes scared the hell out of me when i was working on it. so, i decided..."screw this, i'm cropping them out" it was a design choice as well, but mainly due to the fact they just freaked me out.
i vectored the scan, trying to get amano's lines as perfect as possible. i decided...no color except for the sakura and lips, and went with it. it was to give it a ghosty look. i added texture basically to add to the creepy ghosty look, and i happened to come across an awesome poem that matched the wall perfectly. vectored in adobe illustrator, and finished off in photoshop. Th evector took a long time, but i think it payed off in the end. SO thats about it. I hated this scan, and made something i kinda sorta liked in the end. xD
...and i just noticed tama uploaded hers just before mine. talk about timing XD
I love it! Like I said in my judging comment, I like the idea that you see only the lips as it adds to the mystique of the character. And the monochrome color with just a hint of red to draw the idea, excellently done. (Hm, is excellently a word?) Kudos to you!
And speaking of timing, I think you and I were the ones pushing most for the results to be released, so it's no surprise that the moment we learned they were out, we posted XD

Wow... that is beautifull! see, my name is Said, so the title spooked me a little. I thonght, what is my name doing in a beautiful painting? then I read the text (lol). It's gorgeous, and it graces my desktop now. My niece also thought some one had made a painting for me , haha!!

Nice vectoring! love the blackness, makes it stand out! and the title along with its font makes it interesting! Nice contrast between the white and gray and I like how you cropped out the top view of her face! Gives it that mysterious feeling! Well done, keep up the goodwork!
Simply an amazing wallpaper, I really like the sharp contrast in colors, it really helps make everything stand out. The character image looks fanatastic, and I really like the subtle use of pattern in the BG. I'll have to add this one to my favorites.
I love this vectore XD The flower pattern is really pretty and I like the repitition in the background and the simple shades of grey and bits of red. It's very Sin City-like :]
This wall reminded me instantly of memoirs of a geisha... I love how the touches of red contrast so well. I personally dislike amano's art, so awesome job making such a nice wall:)
*chuckles* I've definitely become a fan of your work with wallpapers. I love the way all the right things in this wallpaper -- the smile, the colors, the print of the kimono -- came out in all the right places.
