Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!
More Mushishi fun. I liked this scan ever since I saw it, because of the brushed style and the really simple, heartwarming feeling that the father-son relationship gives off. The background is based off of Hasui Kawase (1883-1957)'s woodblock print, " Fuji from Matsubaara at Miho" because it had the fishing boats and the ocean. I transformed it from ukiyo-e to a much simpler one-color calligraphic brush style to match with the characters. The "scribble and tweak" effect of Illustrator proved to be very useful in this regard. Photoshop was used to add the texture, scanned from some handmade paper. I kept it one color, although I may consider coloring it later, but I like the effect it has right now. The Japanese text "Oyako" means "Parent and Child" or in this case, "Father and Son."

I can't wait for the rest of Mushishi to be released. Anyway, the wall. Awesome vector, as always. What really gets my attention is the perfect blending of too completely unfamiliar images.
Thank you so much for uploading all these Mushishi walls. It's quite rare to find walls under this title. I like the Edo print style you used for it, and the simplicity in the colors used all the more brings out the feeling of that period. But just one little comment. There's a little reddish patch on the mountain. Was that deliberate?
Nevertheless, it's a wonderful piece of art. Nice! =)
I got a new fav! this is my recent favorite here, i totally like what you did there. it looks like a well done fanart.
everything fits great together, it's fantastic. ^^
Wow, I think it looks awesome! The vectoring is amazing and the way the two different images are put together just go so well together. It's amazing! Fav for me!
Been a while since I've commented =s .. [or even been online for that matter], but this wall caught my eye whilst browsing through ap for the first time in a while, and I honestly couldn't help but to stop for a moment and resist the urge to type up whatever commentary might come to mind. Always loved your work, Tama, and as per always, this piece is no exception. =s
The scan you chose was a nice scene to portray and expand upon. It really does give off that typical feeling between father and son, as you said; and of course, as expected, the expansion upon the original portrait was done and executed wonderfully.
I like how you decided to just stick to a monochromatic colour scheme: just two colours plus a texture. It does give off a nice effect - like cut-out parchment paper - one stuck on top of another. The lines are really crisp and smooth and edgey enough just to the point where it gives off that paperish effect.
Choosing to follow the scene in the original painting that you worked off of really worked out quite well, if I would say so myself, and I think it fits in rather nicely as well. I like it =s and the entire mood of the wall is just very quiet and calm. Relaxing and contenting like coming home from a fishing trip with buckets upon bucket-fulls of fish.
It look awesome as a desktop [resolution is perfect ] and the signature at the bottom doesn't spoil it at all either, but rather blends into the background and doesn't distract the eye at all. I like the characters you added into the wall as well, and I have to say the choosing of placement was rather good. Fitting, too ~
I like the style of this wallpaper. Sometimes, just using simple colours gives a better presentation than a colorful picture. This wallpaper doesnt give anything fancy. However, it presents the relation between father and son in a flawless way.
WoW! wOw! beautiful! excellent! awesome! is a great wall! I love how you take two differents scans and put it together...and you create a totally new concept!! ^_^

I love Japanese paintings and this one has a very nice feel to it. You did an awesome job turning it into a vector and the scan blends in perfectly. Wish there were more simple walls like this, +fav
Quite excellent! Matches both the series and the scan perfectly. The oyako kanji blends well, and I cannot tell where the scan ends and your work starts. My only recommendation is to increase the contrast; it is a little cluttered around the boats, which clashes with the simplicity of the rest of the wall. But this is minor. I also am not that fond of the color, as I associate Mushishi with vibrant greens, not brown-orange. However, I am just being picky; here is a truly excellent wall!
