Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!
I have finally decided to upload this one to AP. I hope that it won't be denied cold-heartedly and support it with explanation.
The wallpaper is by me, as commonly recognized in waller communities - the characters are extracted from scans. I paid attention to this process to ensure the best quality. Rabi~en~Rose is from a different scan than Puchiko, of course, so I had to make two extractions. Besides that, the brightness is also adjusted.
As for the background. I wanted to make a hanabi scene from the start. I tried several different approaches and this set of fireworks finally looked OK. The rest of the background is made of a trees photo, which was taken during the day, but altered to be suitable as trees at night. I tried to use as subtle filters as possible, to not to distort it awkwardly, just to imitate a lower resolution of the human eye at night. The grass is a plain brush, with some flowers added, of course.
If you think that the characters are too bright, please bear with me: How would it look if you used a camera at night to picture people, lanterns shining against you? I'm not even as good as an amateur at this, so sorry if I should have done an all-day scene.
A good point I believe is that the BG is an all-around photo manipulation, with components barely comparable to their sources.
And I'm actually using it as my wallpaper, so the manufacturer->consumer thing doesn't apply here.
The wallpaper was originally done in 2048x1536 for the purpose of printing, reachable by the link "More resolutions".
EDIT: The link is gone with version 5, so here it is again: http://zdenek.szm.com/gallery/zwz_my_zwz34.htm
Really nice and you died a good job. The resolution it's ok.
Great idea to put fireworks on it but why the left ball is coloured and the righ ball attached to the chord is so white ?
Anyway, good work.
i often don't like very much wallpapers with "little maiden girls" like in this case, but your idea of using the stock photos and the color/contrast/brightness was all perfectly matched... i use my monitor with low brigtness, so IMO the image was even better at this config...
great job you did now... congratulations! ;-)

Where's Dejiko :(. she's missing out on all the excitement. guess that can't be helped. the fireworks looks really cool and so realistic. what do you call those things that is hanging on the strings? must be some kind of outdoor light that is turned on at night, i've seen them in many series before, but never knew what they're called. the right one seems plain though. i think instead of grasses, you should use a stairway with a temple in the background, because those light thingy seems to be out of place with the grass scenery. might just be me :D.
Although the characters are cute, they don't fit into the background at all, it's way too obvious that they were slapped on top of the background, especially puchiko, she looks like she's floating and the grass has too much texture to it
I have barely found out about di gi charat, and well i've been liking what I see,I like that you included rabi en rose.^_^ she my favorite anime character right now.the fireworks are good I cant do such yet but all wall here have their strengths^_^
it is a nice attempt, but It has only been the begining to a great!
