Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

My first widescreen wall...celebrating my new widescreen laptop :D
Made for the IIDWP v. Trompe Les Mondes Pre-90s Challenge on The Battleground
Steps:
1) extracted Nausicaa from this scan
2) painted the glider
3) painted the cliff
3) painted the fields and trees
4) painted the sky
5) touched up Nausicaa and other finishing touches
I really like the idea of wallpaper! It's relaxing to look at and I like the green color too.
Although the sun looks a bit weird, I think this is a great wallpaper!
You did a great job on the hill and I love it. Nicely done!
There are some senses of incompatibility in the background of pastoral landscape (?) though it thinks the composition to be a very good when the outlook on the world of the work 'Nausicaa Valley Of The Wind ' is considered.
Its a great concept, and one I expected to get more attention, but I think everything seems sort of pasted on without any real shadowing/shading, so it sort of makes the blending seem sort of off.
Its a very lovely looking wallpaper, especially
the background, the fields are looking very
nice, the image is blended in quite well, the
overall effect is totally awesome, and how much
attractive it is, its really very nice, it must have
taken alot of time.
Really nice concept here ^^ I like how everything blends into each other, usually these scans would be difficult to make a background out of, you've made it seem like it was so easy XD I like the style! And the background is really well done ^^
Wow, you know what I noticed? The title is a tad bit.. weird. I always thought it was called Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. XP Anyways, This is definately different than what the Valley looks like, haha. First of all, you did a BEAUTIFUL job. I really thing it reflects the feeling of the princess. A serene intensity that's hard to explain. I'm so very glad you used a manga scan instead of the anime movie one ~ you don't see a lot of miyazaki manga walls. You did an absolutely WONDERFUL job on this wall, but it looks awkward in a way. Nausicaa looks displaced from the wall as the background's style is different from that of her. Though Ghibli art is the same way, it looks blended in. But not this wall. :[ I see you were trying to make it look as if Nausicaa was on a plateau of sorts? But instead, it looks like she's on a little hill. I have no idea why, but it makes me feel this way. Overall, it's a beautiful wall! Keep it up!
The watercolour ans such really match this scene, but the thing is...the sky looks kind of bare because there are no really detailed clouds in the sky and whatnot...there are just random blobs there. One more thing is that Nausicaa doesn't really match into this picture since her extract looks so detailed with all of the shading and such and the valley of all of the feilds looks really bare in my opinion since there is barely no colour differation between the parts of the field. :( Im sorry if I was a LITTLE too harsh, I'm just like that...^_^"
