Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!
*** An entry for the AP Battlegrounds EVI v. Dafeiji - Noir collab challenge ***
Collab team: elfe-noire43, Jack, supermonchi
In this challenge, our task was to portray Mireille using a timekeeping device.
While the sundial idea was pretty straightforward, deciding on a background concept and choosing a Mireille scan wasn't quite that straightforward in a 3-people collabs environment - but we made it!
It all begun with this concept - LOL! XD
The ruin settings, sky, sundial and everything else present here were drawn manually from scratch through a massively laborious effort and plenty of midnight oil.
Practically no scan or stock photos used, other than for Mireille vectoring, misc tracings and stone texturing.
I haven't watched this series but elfe-noire43 has, and she added a nice touch of story truthfulness by putting Mireille's shadow on the Virgo symbol because it means maiden and Noir is about the "maidens who governs death". She also changed the sundial symbols (cardinals points ) from their usual position to fit with the sun position.
All credit to Jack for the vector and the modifications made on the original Mireille scan to fit with the scene esp the lighting.
The concept is nice..in theory. Bevel and Emboss is NEVER a good feature, in fact..no automated one is. The biggest problem with the wall is its blending, it seems like a textureless combiantion of vectors and brushings skills..maybe even stocks. Fine lighting though.
This wall is beautiful. The only thing that bugs me about it is that the vector looks too animated for the background. The lighting is wonderful. Such a unique concept :) good job guys
I think it looks really nice.. i really like the background.. it looks really awesome.. but i think the girl doesnt blend really well with the background.. it needs to be blended a lil bit more with the background.. but overall.. its a great wallpaper! great job!.. tahnks for sharing this wallpaper! ^____________^
It's beautifull!! There is a lot of details, the design is great and there is a good atmosphera. The only think I donn,t like is the text under the sun, It's wasn't nessesary.
Harharh EVI strikes again, yeah a awesome job. still some points a bit plain but turned out awesome.. and good enough for victory *rubs it in more :P* add +fav
I like the background, but I dislike the figure herself. It's the placement of her head and her eyes that give her an extrememly wooden doll like feel to it. For me, it ruins the picture. If you could find a better picture of her with a more expressive look then it would improve the picture greatly for me. Not really your fault, I suppose, just the picutre you chose to use.
Hmm..nice wall. A lil messy, but I eventually like the overall mood...
The only thing that strikes my eyes in a bad way,is the scan >.< It's not blending well at all and the hair is sooo simple... =( Not at all suiting the wonderful and complex bg.
But anyway,I'll Fave this for the Bg and mabye you'll find a way to edit the scan & make it blend better ^_^
A great wallpaper.. I like Noir and this wallpaper pictures it in quite a decent way.
However: the lightning on the left part of the stones should have an even darker contrast to the rather light ground. While the foreground is a clean vector trace, the background is a bit (probably because of the style) dirty and contains thick lines. This makes the background not go too well with the foreground. The shadow though makes up for this since in my eyes it is almost perfectly done.
Therefore I can say that this wallpaper is a very well done work and the concept-base seems to have served well - if you compare the concept sketch and the final result.
Those minor errors left aside this wall is surely one of the best Noir walls I saw so far. Good work!

Now no matter what others might say I simply love this wall.Seriously I believe the background is perfect and that even the girl fits it...well this is simply my point of view.I love the atmosphere, the dtails, the colours, even the girl and even the text!Well I prefere not judging too much others'work because I know how much effort they put in making something original...and this is really original, and original things are very rare!

rest is great! good job!
Have a nice day!
If religion is that which binds men to one another, and irreligion that which sunders, then must I testify that I found the religion of my country in its musical genius and its irreligion in its churches and drawing rooms.

i really like the ancient background with the broken slabs and and the circle on the ground
the dull look to it kinda makes the background look old and thats a plus in my opinion
the theme fits nicely with the wall
great wall
keep it up
Definately a fav!
