Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!
And then we were found by the light once again... [ Version 2.8 fixed ]
Wallpaper featuring Lacus Clyne from Gundam SEED OVA: Valley of the Stars
Info:
Time: 9 1/2 hours + 2 hour of fixing time in total
Layers: 24+
Images: Lacus I screenshotted, http://gallery.minitokyo.net/view/109497/ and photo from sxc.hu
Vector & Renders: the butterfly, sparkles, star bg and aurora borealis glow thingy
This is pretty old, twelveth Lacus wallpaper I've done but in the end, I still love this wallpaper to death. I wanted to capture the mysterious and faith mood especially since I think it best describes Lacus. Walking on a road in a plain of darkness but was always walking towards the light because it is the light that guides one (thus the creation of words). I found shading this wallpaper was pretty hard since I had to make sure that the light will be hitting reasonable areas and casting hard shadows. Of course I fixed some areas (especially her head) where the light should be softer. That's about it for this wallpaper aside my creativity actually took over for once so it's improvement in my opnion XD *usually just does... stuff*
Hope you'll all enjoy as I'm sure many have seen this (alot I should add) at Minitokyo and Clyne Faction. ^^;; Enjoy!
Like I said in another wall, automated effects aren't a good addition, get rid of the outer glow. Thats probably the main problem with the wall, although there are other minor ones, like overstocking and jaggy extractions. Fix the glow and it'll be presentable, the concept really ain't half bad.
except i would get rid of the little logo and repaint the ground. maybe not repaint the trees, but the ground would be simple enough since it has clean lines.
i also wish it was bigger. then your good vector work would show more!
WOW thats so incredible, and i also really likethe tittle! and the scan you found and vectored, UUU its just so Beautiful! i am so jelous!! great shadows, and lght!! its all soo bright, and light! Yea,a lil bit too dark, but the overall mood is kinda good XD Yea,the Outer Glow of the tree in the fg doesn't look very good >.<
AND...
I don't know...
There's something else...
Lacus and the path she's walking on: there's a huuuge difference.
Lacus is kinda glowing...surreal...eerie..and the path is very hard-looking,+ there's something wrong with the perspective between her and the path...and the tree in Fg.
She's kinda too tall for the tree, considering the tree's thickness..and when you looki closer,it is only about twice as high as Lacus and this screws up the perspective. >.<
Well,anyway,I like the mood ^_^
Fave. =)
Hm... I really don't care for the anime at all... but this wallpaper is good in my eyes. I like the background and I really like the glow even though there are people who don't. What I agree on is on the size: if it is vector art and if the stock photo permits it - please ;__; use a higher resolution. I hate to let my PC auto-upscale it. And yeah: the vector trace you did would have more details and be more interesting.
As to the logo: it looks okay but a repaint of the ground would look better in that place.
The concept is pretty cool and (sorry here) the thumbnail looks even more promising than the full-size wallpaper.
Automated effects aren't all that bad if you know how to use them and if you know how to manually adjust them if you have to. Besides: in some cases you are bound to use automated effects because creating a similar effect manually would take ages...
Ohhh simply gorgeous, dreamy, heavenly!I never praise something without a reason! And really not only the chara looks like from a fairy tale but also the background.Uhh I see many judge the glow effect from my point of view it looks great and adds a little more feeling of magic!
I simply love this wall and what is not to love about it^_^!And most of all I loev the colours ,okay i love everything!
Simply beautiful!
Oh ,well- done !I like the feel of the whole job,Lacus is so beautiful ,and it is clever os you to make juce a vague fingue of her shown in this wall ,it is full of art ,the light effects and the trees are pretty,Ok,+favorite,Hope to see more from you
Really nice wall, like the light and everything with it, the tree may seems like a bit to blurry..
and lol why did you add so much text! it make the wall little boring sorry!
Awesome job! personally i don't mind the glow. i think because it's become the norm not to use outer-glows is what makes this one nice. i'm sure there's lots of ways to make it even better but for now i think you did a great job on this! :)
