Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!
** An entry for the Vectorness July 06 challenge - Take five! **
Featuring the band members from the Beck series - Chiba, Ryusuke, Koyuki, Taira and Saku (L-R).
And of course, the 'Blackjack' mascot dogs - Beck and Keith!
100% Illustrator made. The characters were vectored and modified from various screencaps and scans to suit the overall group pose. Took a while to find fitting poses for everybody so they can all sit together happily, but I'm pretty satisfied with the result :)
I wanted a simple wall hence the black-and-white minimalist vector genre was decided early on. Didn't plan to design the background until I realised how boring my wall looked with just the characters lineup on solid black bg (lol!), so I ended up with the heraldry logo decor for something extra and also a balancer for the overall composition.
As you may have guessed, most of my midnight oil was spent on the logo decor design :)
All of those swirly-twirly-thingies and pretty much everything you see par the characters, was made from scratch - no brush packs, other than the default Illustrator set.
Wall highlight: the dogs - lolz!
Oh yeah, the title and my signature are those tiny texts below the shield - can't think of anywhere else plus they kinda fit in well with the logo - lolz!

Reuploaded wall with updated title on the logo.
Changed the title to "Party of Five" - I like it much better than "Fab5". Just thought of it and can't get it off my head, hence I'm changing it.
Damn, I love BECK and this is definitely one of the best BECK wallpapers I've ever seen. I love the style and the vector is nice. The black and white makes it look good, too.

I love the dogs, the curves, the vector.. the idea..everything although koyuki looks just a bit...odd. but whatever I'll just add this to my favs.

They look kinda weird. O_o not like BECK at all. The wall is awesome though. the vector work is terrific and the idea behind it ain't half bad. I personally would switch Taira with Chiba though. Also, the lines in the back.. too thick for me, I like the thin ones better. The black and white works well with the wall though, and combined with the posture of the characters, it reminds me of the italian mafia.. <_< don't know why. The shield looks very harry potter-ish xD.
Oohhhh... Not bad you turn 5 straight guy in a band to gay guys... Enough about that lests talk about the wall. I'm dinng your ide. That logo look very well made but i think the shield should been replace with a guitar or something with musik to some how make it connect with the serie. Maybe guitar luciel (sry cant spell the name)? But i like what your doing and the vector looks sweet. I'm faving this coz it's freaking hot!

Wow... I love this! There aren't enough black/white walls like this, especially vectored in this style. I couldn't tell each chara was taken from various screencaps-you did a great job matching them. Love the logo.
It reminded me from the reality series "Queer Eyes For the Straight Guys" as well after i read the heading and looking at thumbnail more closely. This is before i read your comment lol. The concept looks great, their posture fits well in comparing with each character and the emblem looks pretty neat.

XD lol! nice wall i like the bg pattern, and the illustrator made thiny in the bg on the top with the swirlies!! loL!! ;D and the vector job is very nice too!! i also like the idea of putting them all together, and the cat/dog heads in the thiny on top!! :P Great job, amust be Fav!
