Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!
LL: (if you are still on) I need to have you making a group annoucement about the card game. Currently very few people are on it. I make the design, but we need set the rules soon as possible.
I'm in an experimental mood lately, so while this wall fails as actually being a utilitarian wallpaper I had a lot of fun making it. The idea came about when I was reading the Hachikuro manga (which I recently acquired) and kept seeing Yamada beat the crap out of everyone, complete with HP bars and combo moves. I decided to expand that into a 2d fighting game a la Street Fighter 2. I chose Morita as Yamada's opponent because when I saw the image of him trying to sneak up and give someone a haircut, it was the perfect jumping attack move. Morita's attack name comes from the fact that the "Shinobu" of his first name is the same "nin" as in "Ninja" (which he gleefully explains as he sneaks out in one scene. Yamada's attack name comes from the fact that everyone compares her to a white swan when she's throwing pots.
Characters traced from various pages of the manga; background ferris wheel traced from another H&C scan.
To get that Street Fighter 2 look, I reduced the colors to 256 and deliberately pixelated the image.
"Pottery no Tatsujin" is a play on the game "Taiko no Tatsujin" (a music simulator game where you beat the living daylights out of taiko drums) and Yamada's nickname, "Pottery no Tatsujin".

I love all of your wallpapers so much, but they're all for widescreen monitors, which kills me because I can't use them as they're suppose to be used. Do know that I love your work, though, and this one's no exception. I'm a huge fan of HachiKuro, and this wallpaper really cracked me up. Again, good work. Keep it up.
Hmph. Not like you other walls at all. I dig the decrease in quality in order to keep the style true to the original game, but Im not digging the unusual cheap looking vector, especially coming from you.
Interesting idea =P and it would of worked well if it didn't look so blurry/fuzzy, i know its done on purpose but... as a wall i'd prefer it not to be ^^ but then again its experimental isn't it, so from this you'll get experience and more ideas! good luck on the next one
When I first looked at it, I wondered why the quality of the picture was so bad, but it was because you were trying to get a feel for the gaming kind of atmosphere. I don't really like it, but you have to stay true ;). I think it is great that you attempted vectoring Honey and Clover, and it also being scans from the manga makes it even more impressive. The artwork has the watercolor feel so it's really hard to come out with a product that looks simliar when vectoring the characters. Good job ^^. +fav
Hilarious ^_^. Good old classic games being remembered and brought back to life through different images and styles. Now its brought back to life on a wall. I never knew the Honey & Clover series can be this hilarious. Gonna be checking it out soon.
Top vector work. I like how you pick the right images for the right ideas and combining them all together to create an amusing wall.
Its already a classic from today onwards

This is such an inventive idea for a wall! I think it really brings out the fun, free-spirited aspects of Hachikuro. A lot of people seem to focus on the serious elements of the show. It's a nice surprise to see someone doing something creative and different!
Lookin on the thumb it was an instant-love ;] however the full size brought some concernes. i like the overal pixelate style of the charas and the interface, they are imho great, but the background is way too simple and.. blocky. now SF2 was had a strong point there of having really nice backgrounds. like: http://yannick.fleurit.free.fr/Culture/Dossier%20PC-Engine/Street%20Fighter%202'.jpg
now when i look at that SF pic i just dig what is lacking here - the shadows ;]
i'd try looking at a non-pixelated versions, it's impact could be also quite huge ;]
all in all - a wall definetly to remember, starting from the idea, ending on the workshop.
I have not seen this anime/manga but I really like the idea behind this wallpaper. If the series is as good as this wall I may just have to give it a chance. Good job!
