Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

Recently I decided to catch up to the latest scanlations for Hajime no Ippo and came across a really pivotal point in the story. Right after Ippo's junior Itagaki wins against his own rival, Ippo looks over the now empty Korakuen Hall where he had so many of his own fights over the years, and decides to give up his Japanese title to progress to the OPBF at a chance to fight Miyata his longtime friend and rival. It's seriously the fight all the fans including me have been waiting for, and after 70+ volumes released thus far, its finally time...hopefully (part of me thinks something is gonna delay it further). Either way Ippo will finally be moving out of Japan and facing the world which should be interesting in itself. And if you haven't, I highly recommend Hajime no Ippo as either a manga or anime. It's one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of reading and at such a long length, it still succeeds in having me completely locked in suspense in every fight. The attention to detail as well is great, and not to trash on typical shounen fare but in the case of Ippo, the fighting is very real. This ain't no trash like Bleach or Naruto...
This specific page in the manga really caught my eye and I chose to wall it mainly because I found it to be a really beautiful moment given it's context. The wall took the good amount of 3 days to finish adding up to around 30 hours or so of work. This one is definitely the first wall in a while that I spent such a great amount of time on, and for good reason. I translated the whole manga image to vector then colored it in with a minor amount of some screentones and shades of gray. I think it came out really well myself given that I did it off of a manga scan and also while making this one it really felt like I got out of my walling block that I've been suffering from for awhile. Not really in a creative way, but more in that I actually enjoyed making this wall which is something I haven't felt in a long time, hence why I haven't been pumping out my usual amount these last several months.
Another excellent wallpaper from you for our viewing (and downloading) pleasure XD
i like what you did - great job with vectoring,i say!
well,to make it short - *thumbs up* ^^
I don't know the manga or anime (yet?), but this wallpaper is very nice. Monochrome works. Tight, clean yet very detailed and created with care. Credits!
You know.. this would be Such a nice treat to the eyes. if it weren't for the BattleGround rush in of B&W wallies.
But, i see work put into this and your vectoring are great on this one :D
Love the manga and the anime. And this is a great moment from the series. I'm seriously impressed by the amount of work you had to do to clean up this scan! Amazing job and a great wallpaper! I hope you make some more, I need more Ippo wallpapers!
Excellent wallpaper.. cleaned out a lot of the 'dirt' on the scan.. i think this will hit a sweet spot with fans of the series especially since this is such a brilliant arena with lots of memories of ippo fans
personally though, i'll rather have a wallpaper of sendoh at the end of his first fight against ippo.. no spoilers, but it was when he was sitting in his corner at the end of the match :-)
Oh my... i told you about Hajime No Ippo on your userpage... My My My... having seen the original page...U did an AWESOME JOB! What else can i say... cause i don't like the words... i'll tell you one thing :

Wtf?!? i can't believe you didn't get a better response on this wall! (lol as i comment a month after the fact... ;p) you totally captured a very dramatic scene and the detail alone should've gotten you more than a D+!
ah well, maybe blu was right cuz you submitted so close to all of the b/w battleground walls. i personally have nothing against b/w walls (i change my wallpaper daily and it all depends on my mood).
i love your style crapmonster! i'll fav it cuz you so deserve it! :)

Korakuren Hall, probably the most important boxe stadium in Japan. We can see this place in Rokudenashi Blues too, when Taison Maeda the hero, fight against his rival Seikichi Harada.
Your cleaning job is wonderfull! You should try to put color on all that :)

Believe it or not, but the simple elegance of this blows me away. I'm in love with black and white pieces recently and this is just up my alley! Gorgeous work!
