Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!
Adobe Suite: $700. Junk food eaten while designing: $57. Hours spent working on a design when you could have been working: $350 dollars. The 10 minutes for someone to tell you you suck: Priceless
Well, I saw these two scans and instantly knew they would be great together. So after some extraction, editing, cleaning up and adding various effects, this is the result. The characters are by Range Murata and the background is by Makoto Shinkai. Because of the difference in their art styles, I had to adjust Makoto Shinkai's background to match Range Murata's because it matches better that way. I tried to make the wall so your eye's don't focus on either the characters or the background only. They are much better enjoyed together.
This is a simple wall that I like very much. For you widescreeners like me, it's avaliable in 1920x1200 goodness. For you people with normal resolutions, I've included a regular 1600x1200 wall here.
Really nice.
Great work on the extraction of the characters
and on their position in the background.
I'm quite curious to see how the background looks before you put
your hands on it ^_^
Nice wall, keep up the good work.
Well, there is not much to say about this wallpaper because you have just combined two existing scans. You managed to do this in a harmonic way but the rain still bothers me: It is supposed to be a happy scene and you actually only use rain for dramatic and sad atmosphere. That's why the rain doesn't match with the rest.
Oh wow, I really like how simple this loks and how the textureuring of the BG fits the Scans. Very good sue of filters and awesome concept! I like it! FAvorite!
Personally, I don't like the expressions on the characters faces at all.. they're just too damn happy. Like harakiri said, the mood of the characters and the setting doesn't match. Plus your title is "we met at the station".. titles like these make me think of first meetings.. or when 2 people first see each other. The way the characters are standing doesn't really seem like a first meeting though.. it's more like when 2 people who know each other well see each other on the street as a coincidence. To me it doesn't really seem like a significant event but I guess I just have a gripe with the way range murata portrays his characters.. plus I'm being picky for some reason :X However, I wanted to say that the blending was done incredibly well and it feels like the characters fit with the background, even if the mood doesn't match. Great job in any case.
Holy! AWESOME-NESS XD! You did a fantastic job executing this piece. Its simplistic in terms of creation but the work with the rain lighting is pretty good. However you goofed a little on the lighting with the characters. They should have a slight glow around the edges since the light source is in the train station. Other the small goof with lighting you did awesome. SO ADDING TO MY FAVORITES XD! Nice job. I'd recommend adjusting that lighting just to make it that much better ;).
I like the concept and composition of your wallpaper. Everything has a flow and feel to it including where you had placed your characters. I do have to agree that the rain is kind of contradicting the happy atmosphere otherwise great blending work. You did a great job!
I must say, I am thoroughly impressed! Those scans definitely went well together, and the lighting/shadow techniques you did came out really well! 5 out of 5!

The rain is disturbing the happy atmosphere TT__TT But the wall itself is really nicely done ;D Great blending job ^^b Though the scans look a little 'pasted' on top of the background scan which is a little bothersome =P I think just a little more blending with the two scans into the background scan would make the wall look better ;P Thanks for the 1600x1200 resolution ^^
