Hey, this battlegrounds contest is really producing some classy walls, eh? This wall really caught my eye because of the little things that it took to pull it off and make it work not just as an album cover homage, but as an anime wallpaper for The Melancholy Haruhi Suzumiya. Take a look!
This will be short. I'm tired, on hangover, and I really can't think of anything.
So... It was a good battle at the battleground, but in the end, we lost. Still, I'm kinda happy with this wallpaper.
Ok, enough with these things, let's go straight to the description.
The Epoxies are a five-piece rock group, though, it's a band different from the others. They mix melodic, pop-punky guitar tunes with the taste of the 80s (synthesizers) and more (even yodeling). Both their CDs are very 'kitschy', yet very great. Though I like the latter album more, I picked the former's cover to make this wall. Here it is.
The first thing was to make the background. Fairly easy, made the lines, vectored the cranes. Took a couple of minutes. Then it started to get tricky. I found some decent scans of the people from sos-dan, vectored, made a b/w, 'too contrasted' touch and... changed the clothes of all people. The majority of the chars are wearing the same clothes as the people on the cover of 'The Epoxies', but the fact that in SOS are 3 girls instead of 1 made me make some changes. The most visible is Mikuru, she got a classy, old-school top/skirt combo along with a tie and black bandages all over her hands (the outfit is based on Roxy Epoxy's look during the 'Stop The Future' tour) instead of the grey, metallic suit. The rest was rather easy. And that's it, I think

Wow, really good. I love the shading you have going on the characters, as well as how you reinterpreted the clothes to fit them. Everything down to like, the characters you chose to exchange places with the band members makes it really fitting. Only thing is, I have a feeling perspective wise, Kyon should be a bit bigger in relation to Haruhi!
OMG excellent vector work! I Really like how its made, so simple lookin and very clean. I like the composition well since it is based on an album cover. I like the black and white and wow I like how you made all the clothes for the characters including Haruhi and Yuki looks soo cute :) I love instant Favorite!

Ah, this wall sure is clean and full of style. The style of the album cover works well with this series. The only complaint I have is that the logo should be placed a bit lower than it is now...but I guess that it does not bother me all that much.
Anyway. This is going right to my desktop and straight into my favorites.

Nice monochrome style
good vector work but the first character on the right looks slighty out of proportion next to the second charcter on the right.should be slightly bigger
Awesome wall, I love the whole unique style behind it. You did an excellent job on the vectoring of the entire SOS Brigade and replicating the background of the CD cover, so good job on that as well.
All in all this is a fantastic wall, two thumbs way up and an instant fav in my eyes.
I love your sense of originality. You brought two seperate worlds together with that wallpaper. The edits to the clothes of the members are noticable but they add to the wallpaper not detract. Not much more that I can say except that you own my desktop now.
