This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED I HAVE 1600X1200 AND 1280X1024 RESOLUTIONS ON MY WEBSITE ZOMGLOLKTHXBYE
I haven't done a non-vector wall in over two months! I've finally caught up with watching Mushishi and felt like this series deserved another wall (or five). Again with the odd perspectives, this time looking up from beneath Ginko's boat as it drifts by. The multitude of fish and mushi were also interesting. Since the manga artwork is very much in watercolor style I basically went to clean up the image (removing text), smudge painted everything to smooth out the scan, and overlaid both the scan again (to counter the common issue of smudge paintings being blurry) as well as some light texture to bring out the watercolor styling. Make it all blue and add a title, and it's a fitting wall to end off summer, I think.
This certainly has a very mystical feeling to it, very surreal as well. I love Mushishi because of that and its original stories. It really makes you feel at peace and your manipulation of the original image really preserved the serene feeling.
You picked a really good image to work with. Superb job man.
Wow!!
this is very nice, yes a mushishi wallpaper ^_^
i like the artsy, flowy feel that this wallpaper had, plus the bluey tone adds on to the mood!
a must fave
