This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
I guess after looking at this picture for about 6 hours straight, it started to fry my brain a little bit. This became evident when I submitted this as a scan. So, I feel like a dummy now.
Anyway, started working on this at work one day when I was trying to learn Photoshop CS2. Worked out the top portion and really liked it, and decided to keep it simple. I had a scan of Sasuke that I had downloaded a while ago and decided to use that (scanned onto this site by ~lhparadise).
Thanks to those who commented on it at Session Zero (~Seifer, `mayumi2617, and ~Inuspal), and I hope you guys like the result.
P.S. brief explanation of symbols
Word pointing at his elbow = chuukansetsu = elbow joint / elbow
Word pointing at his face = bikushou = faint, ironic or bittersweet smile
Word pointing at his headband = hachimaki = headband
The large letters in the blue at the top spell his name.
The writing is kind of a plot summary of the series...I broke the lines up for the wall, not really for the words themself (my apologies for cutting words up in a weird order).
Nice idea to this piece
i like the asian characters you have put up
only thing is the sharingan on the bg...its too blotchy
maybe cut it smoothly aorund an put an inner bevel...give it more depth
anyway nice wa;;paper
well done

Nice Asian look to the wall... nice concept of naming the body parts and his name Japanese. It's pretty cooL! But the sharingan looks kind of blur. Did you do it on purpose? Nice wall overall!!
Thanks for teaching me how to write Sasukes name in Kanji :) The wallpaper is simple but nice! And not to forget it's quite icon friendly :D The scan looks nice (sasuke *¬*) I think the shadow could do with a gaussian blur. But overall, pretty neat and nicely done! ^-^
Nice wallpaper! The composition is attractive as well as the Asian characters you used !
Your choice of the scan is a good one too! However, it is true that the Sharingan is quite too blurry !
Nice first wallpaper !
Keep up the hard work ^_^

Thanks to all of you for the comments, compliments, and critiques.
I didn't know it would be up by now and seeing the responses I did, it was an awesome surprise.
Before I submitted it, I messed around with the sharingan for about an hour or two more, but ended up putting it back like this...I just couldn't seem to find a way to improve it. I like it how it is now (the sharingan and the rest of the wall), but I think I have some definite room for improvement.
I might redo the sharingan and rework the wall a little at a later date when I have more experience.
Thanks again and please keep commenting so I can learn how to get better at this :-)
I like it, the idea of the whole wall it´s good, the only thing I don´t like too much is the sharingan on the bg because doesn´t fit with everything else, is too blurry, anyway, still looks fine ^^
Am glad to see your work here at the gallery! You are welcome for the comments. Aren't you glad that you made the sharingan watermark more visible?! ^_^ its kind of accentuates Sasuka even more.
First and foremost I LOVE this concept! The background is really good, and the shadow fits perfectly and doesn't seem out of place. The sharingan outline in the background could be a little clearer though, it's quite blotchy and would look a whole lot better if it were smooth. Otherwise great job and props on the concept. Keep up the work!
Nice wallpaper. Very nice, I love the kanji writing everywhere! Even though I dispise Sasuke, this wallpaper is very nice. I wouldn't call it plain, but it's more of a simple with alot of writing everywhere. xP
