This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
This is kind of a weird wall for me in that i actually had a concept going into the wall and i stuck with it straight through to the end. I've wanted to wall Mushishi for a long time now, but i've never felt like i was up to it. I saw Tama's latest Mushishi wall though and set right to work :)
Scan is from AP galleries, far too lazy to link. Vectored it out for reasons of quality and that i hated the colour of ginko's pants. The mushi were fun to make - i took screens of mushi from the first 2 episodes or so and just recreated.
The vines were NOT fun to make - but they turned out so lovely. I did the rough sketch of the platform in my sketchbook, scanned in & vectored. I had a ton of problems making it look like i wanted to, thanks for everyone on MSN for listening to me rant about this wall :P
Agree with Shinn, I think the Ginko + mushis definitely could be a bit bigger, and you prolly could've gotten away without the font as well XD But otherwise, definitely nice to see good walls for this awesome series :)
I love the minimalism. The theme of the wall really seems to fit the series, even though I've only seen one episode. I really love the vines. It looked like a pain to do, but I think it was worth it.
I like the simplicity going on and how the few elements that there are go together to satisfy the viewer as if it were a more "full" wallpaper. Gret job.
It truly captures the mood of Mushishi. I really like the concept of the floating land and placing the title underneath it. I have to say that the vines came out really good. Thanks so much for your labour of love shiningdays! we love your work!
Another great Mushishi wall.
The concept looks good with the vines and the other details. They really do shine. Wish the overall image was a bit bigger to see more of the details.
Overall, great work!

Good job on this wallpaper.
Be not afraid of greatness;
Some are born great,
Some achieve greatness,
And some have greatness thrust upon them...
