This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
I took everyone suggestions and I came up with this. I made the wings brigther thanks to shinta's tutorial I manage to fixed it. I took off the background and made my own. Change the text. Remove the birds. And made the text pretty...
Haha =D nice to see Asuka looking so angelic .. (u know wat she normally does in the anime -_-")
the wings look a little vague though, I like those birds by the sun .. reminds me of the last episode .. =)
Yay and Asoka wall! I just made a Rei wall ^_^. That is a lovely scan of her. I like the addition of the glow effect around the character. I would say add more opacity to the wings and more color as well. Keep up the good work.
Well, I see you used a bird wing brush in there... it seriously clashes with the style of Asuka's drawing, and is too translucent. You should try making the wings yourself, or take others mor fitting - Shinta has got a couple useful tutorials on imanimetions.net, for that matter!
The extraction is somewhat rough - although, zooming in, it doesn't look like a bad job per se - maybe strengthening the outline a bit to that it looks more regular? Maybe even a black inner/outer glow could go the cut.
The white aura it an outer glow - it looks plain, and gives an amateuristic look. If you plan to leave it, you make so through brushing, blurring and layer-blending, I think - although it most times looks bad, anyway...
The grass looks strange. I'd suggest you to take a look at Nat's tutorial at Ningen (*points to sidebar*). If you could employ a custom grass brush, even better!
I see the background is a photo. Just sticking it there isn't a good idea - try drawing over it, applying some filters, anyway - make it somewhat match the style of the stock image. Using flare lens as a sun is a bad idea; it's overused and has a quite fake look. Also, it's a dawn setting, and the sun should be positioned acordingly.
The colors are pretty much dead... you should try living them up. Applying a copied, overlayed/soft-layered layer with some blur or median noise could prove helpful.
About the sig... either leave it discretely in a corner, or make it an artsy part of the whole piece. The way it is, it'd just be cut by one's startbar, most times.
I liked the name Asuka so much that I gave it to my little girl.
In NGE Asuka had a very hard life but in this wall she looks happy.
This is one of the few Asuka walls that I will keep.
THANKS.
Such a pretty picture!! :)
Asuka looks so nice when she's smiling, and you created a very nice bg for her :) I love the colors you used ^__^
Maybe the sky looks a bit empty, but at least it's not that messy ^_~
Wel, if there are any other mistakes in this wallpaper then Tiburcio already wrote them down ^_^'
I really like this wallpaper, keep up the great work! :)
