While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

I've noticed the increase of simple wallpapers here in AnimePaper since the last time I got here regularly months ago which is surprisingly good. And just as surprising is your work. I LOVE the scan. Hehe, not only the quality [that's a given since you vectored it well enough to look crisp and good] but simply because the meaning it conveys lolz. Not that its anything deep but the scan is just fun to look at. XD Which actually builds up the whole theme for this wallpaper. Being that its simple and as you say "pacifying", it indeed has that lullaby feel. Excellent I'd say.
I would critique though that the clouds could have been dealt with better. Probably giving it a lighter shade so it doesn't swell in the background. The lighting is lovely but I couldn't exactly say the same for the birds.. but heck, those are very minor to the very nice wallpaper we have going on here. I'm not exactly convinced that its a great wallpaper, but its a good job nonetheless, and for that I give you props. ;)
This has some good vector work but it really contrasts with the real looking background. Maybe if you used some vectored clouds and such. but nonetheless good work and Happy b-day!
