This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Finally got around to actually submitting something here at AP. XD
Anyway, this was supposed to be rather simple in design, but the task actually turned out to be more difficult than I suspected. The look I was going for was her lying in a shallow pool of water (3 guess where the title came from... >_>), so I extracted parts of her hair, recolored them, and blurred to give that underwater look. The rest was just fooling stock photos of water for the surface, sand for the bottom, textures for more random coloring... ect.
However, the hardest part was actually fixing the scan. There was a crease going doing her right side... you can most likely still see my horrible brush work. >_>' And cleaning tips are more than welcome.
And finally, the song that inspired the title: Let your mind wander, look beyond the shadows
Focus on the skyline, read the silhouettes
Your deepest desires are a picture of tomorrow
All your darkest fears are just a vestige of regret
And it's wo-oh oh oh, it seems like such a long way to go
As obstacles get bigger, prevailing winds blow stronger
And the fire continues to grow
Don't let shallow water limit your perception

Wow...I love the concept! I can see all the effort you put for the hair, it looks good ;D I think the water would also envelope her below her belly button =P The feathers look a bit queer with having two different styles (the ones on water and the ones in the air) Not too fond of the font though...=P Very serene atmosphere, excellent work!
Yay! you're here at AP! well I think this is a much improved since I last commented on it. I love the water effects! she looks so much better in the water. I love it so much i'll add it to faves. :D
Oooh YAY a new waller! A talented one at that :D Anyway I really like this wall I have always loved Rahxephon. So of course I love this wall to xD Um as far as critiques go I don't have much to say since you did such a good job of making it look like she is submerged in water. The one thing that bothers me though is her hair I personally would have stuck it all under water in a sort of way. As in, all the hair should be wet therefore making it darker. But right now it looks like there are 2 different types of hair xD One that is floating over the water and some that is in it...Anyway I really do like the wall and feathers were a nice touch :D +fav
Hey rock.
The scan.. ecchi... i kinda despise ecchi scans.
Only if the scan is more... well... *Eye catchy* than the bg.
But, the BG,water, feathers are whole alot better than the scan it self.
So yeah. Loved how you made her floating on water :o
Overall, great work.
Aww man! You keep bringin the heat! ^_^ I love this one too. Everytime I see art from this anime I want to watch it. You really make the most of the beautiful art work. Once again +fav
The black feathers make the wall seem so dark and moody
but thats not necessarily bad,
the ripples in the water don't look too realistic
but you did a good job fixing that crease, don't even notice it ^^;

When I first saw this I just couldn't look away. Superb job with the shallow water effect ;). At first I thought you used some kind of "renderer" but real water photo's? *whistles* Nice work with the blending ^_^. Great idea and design. This deserves another favorite ^_^.
Awesome !
ecchi wall kinda good ^_^. you make good mood for the wall, i like the background water color and dark feather make some evil feeling and it fit with character
good job
