This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Finally i finished one of the few walls i'm working on from time to time. :D
i loved the scan which found here on AP from the anime FLCL and thought that reminds me on that song from Viena Teng and started to create this wall. i gone through a lot f versions and ended on my old-aged like walls again. well it kinda looks best this way. the scan is vectored, i tried to keep it near the originl and got this color combinatied version, which i had to put in that night sky scenery. well maybe the reason for that was that i listened the song over and over when i went out with my dog in the middle of the night. ^^
i also thought of adding a city, which was to distracting and over filled, so therefor i just added some flowers and stuff that fits great to the whole feeling of the wall. well if you ask me. :D
so nothing else to say, hope someone likes it. ^^
Edit: oh totally forgot! shame on me! i remembered when i saw Calrs comment. the brushes i used here came from a wonderful artist named Peace. you can check her stuff out at http://dyingday.all-thats-left.net/. i'm a totally fan of her and her stuff, so when i surfed on her site i saw her brushes which i didn't used till now and thought "oh, that one might be a good adding for my FLCL wall. ^^
Edit2: after reading some of the comments and the given suggestions to this wall i changed a few things and added one thing.
for the changes:D - i put the texture now over her or in other words the scan is now under the texture, also lighted her up a bit. that was mentioned one or two times in here. i looked both versions and have to agree that it would and do look better this way.
then there were a little part missing on her arm, which i didn't saw till it was meantioned and i revectored that part to it. i'm sorry for that, i use a lower resolution so making bigger walls is happy scrolling while doing them. :D my eyes can't be everywhere. ^^
so i hope it is now better than before.
I would seriously put the scan under the grungy texture or somtin. Cos the vector looks great, adn the bg looks reat as well, but together this way they dont look at all. But if you make the vector with more grungy addings, and add some texture. Maybe even lighten it up a little, itll look much beter. Anyways nice try. the bg looks very UWSOm thought i love that. Please do what you can, you can make a great wall out of this! ^~

I agree with MinstrelKnight; i quite love this wall. the vector could use a LITTLE work on the curves, but a very cool wall. would be afave if the vector was under the texturing though - it'd add a sense of unity to the wall.
Awesome, the color scheme works so well on this piece and you managed to keep it fairly consistent with the original scan in that category. The textures, while creating plenty of "noise" do so in a manner that does not detract from the quality of this piece (maybe that's because the vector is on top of the brushes, but I do not believe the wall is any less aesthetically pleasing because of it).

I love this scan of Haruka. I think she would have looked better under the textures too. But then the contrast of it not having a texture is also neat. I love the colors. The leaves and flowers give it a good touch too. Awesome job on this wall.

I've always loved this image. You did a great job with this wall, but I do agree that the vector should be underneath the texture. Also, there's a par tI would smooth out on her right shoulder, right before it meets the shirt. The angle's a bit to much for me. But I still think you did a great job on this wall. Keep up the good work!
Everything looks great but something is just weird and it's the vector, its style is too different from the bg.

Its a nice wallpaper, but the background doesn't perfectly blend
in with the character plus i do like the colors of the characters,
