This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Well, this was originally going to be part of the Vectorness Halloween challenge, but I got carried away with my tablet. My first time doing digital painting with my tablet, and everything in the wall's done from scratch, except for raito. (I did vector the outline, though.) I realize the lighting and such probably isn't the most 'realistic', but I was looking for a sort of painted, artistic look rather than realism. That, and I wanted to capture Raito the way he was meant to be. I loved this scan the moment I saw it, and I'm surprised it hasn't been used much. And thanks, Yina, for giving me painting tips!
OO beautiful.. I wish you had more of a rich orange in the moon . overall this is good.
I'm diggin the softness. but Raito , if you had repainted him, it would make this SOOO much better x3
anyways, great job!
i was about to say "having fun with the tablet there much?" then i read the desc. and saw the answer was yes :P
I'm not sure if i like the cool tones of the blue, and i think that you might have overdone it with the tablet blending - just a bit - but great positioning of Raito there.
Well for a first attempt at digit painting, that's one nice result. a bit raw and blunt but this will come in time i guess. you should try to increase sensibility of pressure levels in your tablet so that pen strikes are more marked, so you can do more refined work.
nice wall but not worth a fav from me.
