This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
A quick, but not as simple as it looks, Death Note wallpaper.
I was aiming for a simple looking wallpaper with lots of icon space [my desktop is full again -_- ].
At first, I had a heavily edited stock photo of this corridor and just placed L there. Then I decided to make something a little more original and came up with this :)
Stock photo from deviantART
Textures from various sites that I don't remember XD
Hope you like it :)
PS. Here is a brighter version in case you find this too dark
~edit
Added a slight inner glow to "define" the letter [d/l the wall, the thumb looks the same as before :) ]
And give depressing grayscale walls a chance people XD
~edit 2
wow, thanks for the comments/favs people :)
Just to note something I forgot. L is not headless XD
I just darkened his head to show how he felt during the investigation [confused, a bit afraid of his life etc] :)
Your idea is really nice, but I think you missed it.
the idea about making a lot of space is good, and the L symbol with L )
I think you should have made the bottom side of the L more noticeable, because right now it looks a bit wierd to me (it's a little hard to see it's L), and you could have choose a more iteresting (orclose) picture of L.
still, I think its a wonderfull wallpaper (I prefer the brighter version).
good work!
Ahhh, well, I was always one for brighter pictures, but I like this one just fine. It's pretty good, the only real problem is the bottom part of the "L" since it's not really standing out. In either case, it's nice! =D
It's hard to think it's a L...there.. the promblem is that you needed to make the L more clear... anywayy... the idea of the space on desktop is good..even that I have 4 Icons on it.. :P ..but for a wallpaper is simple...yet i give you a favourite

This is quite a nice idea, although as someone said before, I think you should make the letter L more apparent than now...also, this is a nice, dark, really depressing wall, and yes I'm glad you make it so that it has a lot of icon space XD but this may be too depressing for me...as much as I love L...so good job! This is definitely going into my Death Note wall collection ^_^
Because it's me, i prefer the darker version. death note is a very well written story and so, as my current obsession, i like everything related to it. =] the editting of L into the stock is done quite well and the texture really gives it a nice feel. though i like the whole cutout view idea (working on a wall with the same base concept), it feels very restricted...but i know, it only says "L" on the computer screen in death note... those things are only two-lettered when it comes to aizawa and mogi and people. but that's offtopic. so yeah, nice minimalist piece.
Really great wall! I love simple walls that are well made and this is one of those! ;)
I think the concept is great, the texture and the shape are really nice and the simplicity and darknes of the entire work makes it pretty interesting!
I only have a problem with the scan.. Cause it looks like he's missing his head... But I never read the books... So I'm gonna say it's probably meant to be that way! ;)
Wow, nice space for icons, I like the deeling of this wallpaper, quite dark, and dearh note is awesome as well. |I don't mind that the L isn't very clear, as you can still recognise it as one straight away. Cool wall thanks for sharing
Pretty nice wallie! I like how theres space around it, but I can't quite see the L. Until I looked at it for a while. I
Anyway it's simple, and it looks good. So nice job! ^^
I really like the simplicity and style, even more so because I can see the "L" now. I think the scan could use just a bit more detail though. Also the fact that the head is missing really bothers me.
I think overall it's a great wallpaper with a great effect and feel to it.
I love dark themed wallies...this turned out really nice...i dont mind its minor flaws..this should be hightlighted...
but it has no chick, vector circles etc.
bows.
