Yay, completion! This was a joy to work with, so I'm kind of sad its done (but definitely happy at the results.) Most of this was handpainted, save the clouds right in front of the mech because I couldn't get those to look right. The inspiration came from Mr. Boing and his mech walls. I was looking @ his Front Mission wall and suddenly wanted to do a dogfight bad. The rest went downhill.. I had this Tenjin Hidetaka artbook collecting virtual dust so and I looked through it and was blown away by the mech details! The original image was kind of dull so I had to do a lot of tinkering to get it to look shiny like that. And the CLOUDS - man were they a pain. Pain in a fun way though, cause I'm not good at making cloud scenes at all and it was fun learning how to incorporate them adequately. The BG, dogfight, and effects were all painted in photoshop. Subtle tech added for a little flair. Big thanks to tate and misu for their wonderful input on colors, the ships, and the suggestions for more details and placement. If this mech isn't from normal Macross, let me know and I'll move it.
I never be afan of mechas in general... but this looks really good ^^

You really did an amazing job on this. Seemlessly integrated and very detailed. Love it, and I don't like mecha walls normally so that's a compliment :) Fav of course!
Impressive to say the least. We've had some dull walls lately and it's nice to see a mecha wall that mixes things up a bit. I've always been a fan of Sir Boing and this definitely follows his style while adding some of your own flair. Great job with the clouds as well! They can certainly be a pain to create and patience is a must when rendering them by hand. +fav

I love the effect you got on the mech-armor, well done. The clouds are nice but it looks a bit overlay-ish right in front of the mech. Maybe protruding the chest out in front of the clouds could help...

Parts of the scan is a little rough around the edges, but I think this is caused by a certain overlaying effect. It kinda emphasized the sharp edges of the scan. While the background is indeed detailed, and goodness, I love the wonderful technique used behind it, it comes off a little rushed or unfinished, like there can be more elements added in it [not new stuff, just elemental factors to make it either more realistic or cg-fied].
Eitherway, its really nifty wallpaper, looks great and can really steal one's attention towards the desktop. :)

The background is very nice, especially the clouds, and their colors. The blue parts seems a bit strange, because blue circles on the black space look strange. The mecha looks very good in the center, and the text is good, too. Nice wallpaper.
Dude! this wall is just plain awesomness! i hear alot from people around here that they don't like mecha (wtf?!? ;p) but i'm a huuuuge fan. every aspect of your wall is really good. the battle in the sky is by far the best part but the mecha looks good and so does the text.
my husband is gonna freak when he sees your wall. he's a bigger macross fan than i am! :P

Very interesting wallpaper. I like the scan and overall coloristics, it really can steal attention. The smoke effect is also quite nice, even though it could have been done a bit better. I would also prefer no specific 'details' on the background, it doesn't fit into the wallpaper IMO.
