This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Had a strong urge to make an Eureka Seven wallpaper, so I sat down in photoshop and started working on this.
Renton, the skyfish and the Gekko-go are cleaned up and enhanced scans from the manga, while the clouds are modified from stock. And man did I go through a lot of different clouds until I found something I was satisfied with. And the Trapar wave took a couple hours by itself too, made it a bit different from what you normally see
This reminds me a lot of Goku (DB) and his yellow flying cloud cuz of the tail of your cloud =P
Anyway I like renton and the skyfish, but I think the clouds need more detail, more anime-like according to the detail level of the green thingy (wich I dont remember it's name, ray line?)

I like the carefree tone as the subject of this wallpaper and the name you chose certainly fits the piece. You managed to portray the sense of 'freedom' through Renton, the skyfish and the sky itself quite well. The clouds were chosen nicely (the watercolor look is visually pleasing) and the scan looks very clean.
And while the Gekko looks a tad blurry, I understand it is far in the background so it is to be expected.
This is a nice wall! I like it. The scan and the background are great, and they fit each other very well. I love the chara and the backgroud, they are awsome! XD I like the green fire trial that you made, it is really nice. Great job! Keep it up! =)
Very nice wallpaper but the only thing i dont like is the green i think its to bright other than that i like the wallpaper very much keep up the good work
Wow, Renton looks really cute in the manga. Anyways, this is a really cute wallpaper! I would have liked Renton to be bigger because I think that would make it have... more of a punch? The waves seem a bit too bright for me. That said, I still really like the clouds, and I really like this wallpaper!
I have to agree with edchz .When i first saw this wallpaper it did look as if Renton was riding a reef-board on top on Son Goku's magic cloud. That's trappar for you, an illusive little substance.
Now seriously, nice wallpaper although a bit simple, but it gets the job done.

It's a very pretty wallpaper. I highly enjoy it. Looks like the clip of Renton is possibly from the manga? Havne't read it yet, but the style looks different by a little. Unless it's from some fanart? Whatev, I like the pose and have seen it once before. I like the clouds and can tell you put some good effort into them like you said. The color scheme and style fits how you did or how Renton was already colored.
I do like the trapar waves, but it still seems more like just a vapor trail of energy to me, rather then he's riding on the trapar. Which I know you understand is the point. I like that you took your own liberty to how you did the trapar, because it's clearly not an easy thing to whip out. But it's not quite my personal liking. ^.^;; sorry.
Either way, it all looks very nice and well blended together. Many Kudos to you good sir!
