This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
The more I looked at the original birthday wall I made for crap the more I felt like it got shafted because of my move o__o So I killed the mushrooms (although they linger on as a devART scrap if you're inclined to take a look) and made this one, which is actually another doodle-at-work wall xD;; It's probably slightly less personal than the original, but... I REALLY love this wall o_o I got to paint trees from scratch, play with lighting (which I've always wanted to try but never did), and botch the text... still, I think it's one of the most simple yet atmospheric walls that I've ever made. So yay! Loves for it, and to crap XD
Eureka and Anemone extracted from this scan (yes I wanted to see if I can still extract *coughs*); brown paper texture from devART; translated lyrics from Kozue Takada's "Himitsu Kichi" (Eureka Seven's first ED); and because Eureka Seven has such cool episode names I just snitched one for the title XD The rest is from scratch... Photoshop CS2 + mouse < 3
Lastly huge thanks to tat0rs for tossing me the green reflecting trees idea when I got stuck, which worked like a charm < 3
This is a supah-cool wall :O It's very simple, but it's very poignant; the BG light streaks match the rest of the scan, and the brown background actually doesn't clash.
+Fave for the E7 goodness and the overall prettiness :3
This is a nice piece! I find the combination of the background texture, the watercolor-streaks, the seamless, non-intrusive text and your touched-up scan extraction to be very well done. The style of this wallpaper is very minimalistic and unique, congratulations on an excellent job!
You always make such great and lovely walls. The background color is not my taste but it's jsut personal. The whole wall looks simply beautiful and gives a calm mood. Congratulation!
NIce!! I love the clothes and way of standing! Good figures! But the colors are dull, and background seems too empty! I think you should draw some more vignettes. Fix it, it would be better! :D

The two things that really stand out for me are the simplicity and the lighting; really love 'em. Next comes the soft colors and feel, and finally the text (yes, that's right). 3 @ this wallpaper + instafave.

Again, happy (late) birthday crap!

Additional res (as always) at pixel ellipsis! XD
P.S. I forgot! *smacks head* Concept inspired by Taztooed's deviation "Colorblind," so this is also an entry for the Inspiration Project at Simple-ism :D
P.P.S. Added a widescreen version of this wall @ pixel ellipsis :]
User Comments!
Love the color and the trees are very cool. I really like the way you handle your font. I can never place mine right x_x
But still: great job!
