This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Anyone who has seen samurai champloo knows that it's just bursting at the seams with style. This scan was no different.

i recged a whole lot of it because it just wasn't as smooth as i wanted it.
such a dynamic pic needed a simple background which actually took me a really long time to do. simple bamboo structures worked nicely.
i added in the graffiti-style text with jin's name in japanese, as well as a lil shilouette, and there you have it.
a dab in simplicity :3
since my simplicity doesn't always go over that well, i'm not expecting much from this lol. that and it's not mugen. but hey! i LIKE jin! more than MUGEn! -ducks-
he's so strong and silent and funny when he drinks xD
i plan on making one with mugen to go along with it. and maybe fuu.
more resolutions on pixelated graffiti next week when i update with it.
Very nice job re-cging the image, it looks very smooth and fits the feeling of the show very well. I really like the bamboo forest as well. Overall, a great job.

I love how it has gray mellow tones but the vivid blue makes it really unique and different. I would love to see a wall with Mugen or Fuu with in style. Keep it up ^_^

No~! T_T I was gonna wall Jin in a bamboo forest. XD Oh well, this is better than anything I could've done. I particularly like the fading bamboo... how the colors help give the illusion of depth. Very cool stuff.

You really know how re-cg, don't you? The bamboos look nice, definatly fits the style of the anime. But.. Um... Is it just me, or are those lines across his hair?
I'm curious, wouldn't his name be pronounced "Jinu"? Since normally Japanese follows a constanant with a vowel.. Well, what does the second character sound like? "Nu" or "n"? ... Um... Or maybe the first is "Ji" and the second is, "in"... I don't know... I'm such a noob... XD
Technically speaking everything looks good no complaints from me, good contrast, great re-cg, really stylish
but for my personal preference since i always like colors in my walls @_@ i woulda liked it more if the bamboos had a bit of color but i'm fairly sure you don't like that idea lol >XD

Fits like a glove in the 'samurai champloo' groove ^.^ It is a vector right? If it isnt, thats how good your wallpaper is done. Crisp and sharp outlines and designs. I like the fonts, real groovy. However, there isnt much contrast in colours, maybe a dull green colour to the bamboos behind him and a tinge of red blood spallters on his katana would have been great ^.^ overall love this wall

Wow this is really great, I lvoe the fact that there is so much attention to detail such as the fading bambooes. It may be simple but it's detailed and that's what's great about it, good job with it :).
Nice one kalico, I like the bamboo. first I thought it was a vector, cause it looks so clean, but then I realized the kinda jaggy outline....after that I read the descriptiong...and Ohh....lol great job~!
