This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
"The truth that we're living in a rotten world. Everyone that is realized, does their own try to change this world, but most of times can't do much things since we are all common people with different beliefs, each one. Each one is trying to transfer his opinions to the others and change the world as they want. That's almost impossible. But still, even though we have different opinions for everything, this what makes us people, and in top of that, it's what makes life interesting."
Inspired from this thing I realized, I decided to make this wallpaper. Taking the two edges of the topic this wallpaper is probably an exaggeration trying to show that it's not that important to make people think as we do, but still do what we believe.
Haruhi is not just a random think put there as well. Many people take the series of Haruhi Suzumiya as something pretendedly strange that has nothing to do with reality, and has no meanings. Well, this wallpaper is a part of what "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" passed to me.
hmm, i don't completely agree with the saying. its true that everybody has opinions, but not every opinion there is would be beneficial to each person. if someone believed that he can get away with murder, then the world would be such a chaotic place. its true that we all have the freedome to say what we want to say, and its our right to do so. But also remember that our words do affect other people. Like the saying goes, we are comforted by little things because we are afflicted by little things. Opinions, when outspoken, will be heard and people will either reciprocate and accept it, or not. The point is, its true that people think differently. But not everything said is true, right or just. And not everything is morally correct either. it would be more interesting to me if everyone said what they meant would be in benefit of other people, not just themselves. And until people realize that their words can either break or inspire, its up to them to use that ability, that right to do what they have to do. afterall, each right, each action comes with consequences, and sometimes, our freedome is determined by the consequence. if its good, then go for it. if it isn't, then better think twice.
all i can say is, you have a pretty good work, now that it made me comment like how i do in my friend's livejournal entries haha. a pretty moving artwork. art need not be pretty or colorful or drastically beautiful. sometimes, art that makes people think and have thoughts is good enough evidence that such art should exist. thank you for sharing this. it made me go into my spelunking mode again haha. :D
I don't really get the meaning. It makes the series seem emo and depressing but it is the opposite: a parodistic and crazy science-fiction comedy. The execution lacks artistic values as well.
I agree about the fact it's a little over the top. The message doesn't make too much sense when you first read it. You have to go over it several times over. Could have worked on the grammar some more.
It's a nice concept though. I would have gone with the background style, but with a less personal message and more of something that relates more entirely with the series, like Yuki's explanation of the Data Entity and such to Kyon with possibly some additions that still relate to the series.
Overall, a different out look. A style to consider for future wallpapers.
Really unique idea, but too much text. The message is also a bit confusing and kind of ironic since The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi is not a depressing series. It's more light hearted and comedical. Still, the concept is quite unique.
Everyone tries to change the world, but no one thinks of changing himself! *sigh* Or maybe that's just being pessimistic. Anyway, this style is very unique and I like it. I think it's eyecatching how you used a shadow and not a solid, "real" figure of the character. It has a very straightforward message and put forth in a way that makes people pay attention, so good job!
Gah, the text burns *rubs eyes* The concept is gorgeous, but the text is 1) grammatically incorrect and 2) overwhelming *_* If the BG text could be toned down, and the grammar corrected for the standout text, this wall would be, well, a standout.
It's very brilliant and creative, but just like the others said there's no point of attention. The text is too much and it makes me unable to focus on the wallpaper. But hey, it's quite unique. I have never thought of something like this before. Keep up the excellent work!
That's an original wall and a risky bet, but I like it. I agree in part with your message, we all have a little Napoleon Bonaparte or Alexander the Great deep inside, but our lack of will and strenght and our easy desperation if we can't get immediate results make us give up, ending up as bitter unconformists. Although your message is good and thoughtful, it could haven been written better, from a more philosophical point of view. I like the silhouette and the main text, but the background is too loaded with the text, perhaps a lower opacity would work. Anyway, it's good to see something different once a while ;)
Thanks for your comments everyone! I'll try to make some changes! :)
Either way, I said I was exaggerating in this wallpaper. :P
Like Sabaku-no-Leti said, all of us have our own way to try make the world change. It's true that the two suicide notes WERE too much exaggerating, but I wanted to show the two sides of the rope (or something xP).
Unfortunately, I'm not native English Speaker, therefore it's normal to make some mistakes, I'll look over them though :)
As for Haruhi's role in the wallpaper, I think the Haruhi Suzumiya series are anything but a comedy. True, it's got it's promoting parts but there is a deepness in all this. Haruhi is a girl like all others as she says in Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu Part i (Episode 7, if I'm correct) and tries to do something to be somebody that is not like all others. That's her ego, her own way of living, and even though she seems truly immature, she has many inside her. And I think that she takes life a bit easier, thing that MAKES her different. In the very end, after stop worrying for being unable to change the world she appeals to people and all she does is CHANGE THE WORLD AS IT CAN BE!
That's my opinion anyway :)

Wow, that's alot of words on one wallpaper. You've done a great shadowy blend background of haruhi to the background of the wallpaper. The text and the text colour is a nice choice and seeing this wallpaper, it feels like if im reading a newspaper.
All in all, it's a really unique wallpaper. You don't see many wallpaper like these around. And like I said, it feels like if im reading a newspaper. ^_^ But in the end, really brings out the concept you've giving to this wallpaper. Keep up the excellent work.
It's nice to see another Haruhi wallpaper as an art work it's nice job. the work is clean but why the text at the center is not in one line? is it a seperate story?
and definitly i'm not gonna use this for Desktop wallpaper for sure, it making me confuse when i'm trying to find a folder.
The words behind .. are those made up by you or you got them fomr other places. cause i will be a very amazing thing if you made it up yourself .. truly amazing.. if ..

Just glancing at the background, it seems kind of odd, but if you look at it a bit more and think about it, it does make sense. I like that you decided to go with the darker side of Melan, but it doesn't really make a good desktop because of the text in the background. Also, it tends to give me a headache if I look at it too long. It's a good concept, but overall it just doesn't work for me. Good try though! Good luck on any future works!
