Sitting at my desk, twittling my thumbs, and praying that something will magically happen and all my work will be done for the night... Long and drawn out right? :S
Hiyo! It's been a long time (as always) since I finished a wallpaper, I'm procrastinating way too much u_u;
Well I had been working on this wall since my first Rozen Maiden wall ( Besinnung). I always wanted to vector Suiseiseki (often referred to as DESU, hi /b/rotha ^^) and already had a neat scan I found on 4chan (props to DollAnon XD). But it did take me about 1 month to complete the vector, there had been quite a lot of small details to take care of. The background is vectored as well, and if you watched Rozen Maiden träumend, yes it's the same bg as in the opening sequence ^^
Then nothing. Several months without activity, and I thought I would never be able to finish anything. Only recently was I able to reopen my Desu wall again (with my new computer = teh win) and restart working on it.
I was originally working on a widescreen version ( click!) but I figured that a 4:3 version would be more convenient for everyone. I still worked on the widescreen version until the wall was done at 95% ( click here), and the rest of the work, which was basically the lighting and the bloom effect has been poured into the wall you see up there.
Special thanks to ShiNN and muz for giving me precious advice on lighting and blending techniques, you guys are awesome! \o/
Oh and the title of the wall... well, Suiseiseki very often says "desu" at the end of her sentences so... DESU! XD
By the way, I very recently started an anime blog ( neko's blogspot) ^_^ Since I started it on a whim there isn't much content yet, and I won't do big changes on it anymore since I will very soonish be moving over to animeblogger.net (new address would be natsuneko.animeblogger.net). It's not online yet though, so for now I will be offering further resolutions on my blogspot site :D (I haven't uploaded my Code Geass ep 12 content yet... no time >_<)
Edit: Toned down a few parts as techguy suggested earlier, I hope that it's better now and that I really understood what he meant :P
And thanks everyone for all your comments ^^
Okay, that's it, hope you enjoy the wall! Keep genki!

Am i the first? in that case all i have to say is that it's a decent work, feels like she's in a church or a cathedral and she's like reading something... i'll give it a B+
Excellent vectors, and good coloring. I'm glad you made the widescreen version, it's getting more and more popular, and I am a widescreen user myself, so thank you. Great wall.
Cute wallpaper, very well done, this anime is waiting to watch on my hard disk, I'm pretty shure is as awesome as your wallpaper. Good work on the background, looks nice.
You've got a very successful and powerful wallpaper going here. I also note many of the different changes that you had to make to turn this into a submittable version. I definitely have to commend you for all of that hard work. On that same note, I do have a few things that I noticed that should maybe be modified in the future.
The first thing I noticed was all of the flowers that are on the steps and around the stained glass. They seem to have the innate ability to stand out like a basic vector over a high-resolution scanned image. Maybe those needed some altering as for shading before being placed onto the background there. They do fit in in their own unusual way as they are now, but I think it would have been a lot better to have nice extracted looking images there to keep everything looking like one original scan.
Another thing I notice is her one hand ((I guess it would be her right, but the one on the left if you're looking at it.)) It has the look of being vectored and placed over the scan image. I think it has to do with the brightness of the colors of her hand. Maybe you could just tone down the brightness a little bit on that hand to give it the same color appearance as the rest of her body. I think the same thing as the hand also applies to the lace coming down from her hair on the same side. It has a very hard edge at the end ((almost as if it got cut off)) and the brightness of it stands out in an unusual way.
I do really like the way that the lighting was applied to the wallpaper. It really makes a difference in the overall mood of the entire piece. I think the major two parts of that effect are the way that the light emphasizes her figure from the window and how the steps don't have an entirely consistent color. They seem to have dark and light spots that make them all the more interesting. I think I would have to give this wallpaper a good two thumbs up for quality and design. Keep up the good work!
This is a wonderful wallpaper, great job. I really like how the scan and background matches so well. The background itself is very nice by the way, lots of details to look at.
OMG! I love the background! >.< The scan you chose is beautiful and it goes well with the bg! ;) The lighting was well ajusted and the windows were well drawn. I like the way you make the light comes through the windows and how the girl standing in the middle of everything there! Good job, you did great, keep that up!

When you love someone ... it can make you feel sad sometimes ... or sometimes it can make you feel lonely ... But it can make you feel happier than you've ever been.

'cool' is d first thing i think about it.
love the background
the scan goes nicely along with it

Suiseiseki fits very well the background, and you have made a nice scenic wall.
Good Job, +fav :)
