Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!
I've always liked this picture and you've definitely done it justice.
One small thing, though -- the star in the lower left side seems a little out of place. Once I noticed it I couldn't stop staring at it, haha. Maybe make it a pentagram instead of a solid star? Just a suggestion, of course, but I think it might help maintain the "feel" of the image.
Nice combination between the original picture and the background. they blended well as if it was from a scan picture. really nice wallpaper. looks very original.
The background on this is simply amazing - the aged parchment look is stunning - the figure in the foreground, however, isn't quite sharp enough to give the rest justice, which I think detracts from the overall look of the piece. It's still good, just not quite as stellar as it has the potential to be.

I done a dusty-grunge background filled with a lot of esoteric symbols to match the theme of the original picture...
I use a texture from "DA! Desktop Anime" for the background
