This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
I always come back to walling Kino. I AM a Kino fanatic, after all. Pictures of young Kino are quite rare -- in fact, the only two I really know of are the two DVD covers for the Japanese release of disc 2, which contains the episode relating to that story. I'm rather fond of young Kino, as she shows a youthful exuberance that her mature, older self seems to have lost. Since I already walled the original DVD 2 cover, it was only natural that I would eventually wall the rerelease DVD 2 cover, which I scanned from the second visual novel. The premise was simple -- young Kino leaning out of her window in her family's inn. I basically extended the building by adding a third window (the original image had 2) and redid the wall and then used some recycled stock sky for, well, the sky. At first I had extended the building across the entire image, but the repetitive windows were quite boring. Besides, the blue is a nice contrast to the stucco wall's yellows, and it also allows for icon space on both the left and right. I added some extra brightness to the coloring on Kino to bring her out of the rest of the image. Add in my stock Kino logo, and my stock Kino canvas texture, and there you go.

Awww, that's cute. I would like this a lot better without the text, though...but that's just me. The extension of the building is pretty good. Nice and seamless. :)
I wanted to drop the same comment I made on MT, why? Not for the papers (I don't use em' anyways) but because this wall is so good and mainly because I first wanted to comment on it over here.
I first saw this wall over on AP and I immediately just fell head over heels for it. I have always loved your creativity and unique ideas for walls (well, I personally consider them to be rather uinque myself and quite creative) and when I saw this, especially the adorable Kino scan =x, I couldn't help but to want to comment on this immediately. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to, but now I do smiley.
First, the scan itself. Looking at this, I find it literally impossible to view this scan without saying "Aww...how cute". Just simply adorable, and with the teddy bear as well. I completely agree, as a child, Kino is just soo much more happier and looks so much more easy going~ Of course, not seeing the series myself nor knowing that much, I can't really state =x. Though I do have to say it is quite lovely and so very deserving to be walled as well =D.
The background, wow. Now your backgrounds always just seem to draw me in and this one was no acception either. Beautiful scenery and the building looks amazing. So very nicely done and the texture is gorgeous in my opinion. Such a light color for the building, it really works well with Kino and I love how the scenery behind the building is blurred (or it appears to be blurred nonetheless). The background just has a beautiful feel to it and personally I can't say I've seen very many buildings that look as well done as this does. It doesn't look out of place, it fits very nicely with the scenery and with the scan as well and great detail paid to it (even though the building itself doesn't have anything too complex, I think it looks great) and I especially love the wood trim, which actually looks like wood =o zomg! Of course I wouldn't expect anything less from you. Simply gorgeous detail paid to everything and though the text is rather..different, I have to say that overall with the whole background, it does work rather nicely. Especially how you fit the larger text in very nicely with the sky, yet it's still visable. The cursive was a nice touch and overall, this is just amazing. Heck, I can't say that I even find a single thing wrong with this scenery. I'm do have to say that I am glad that you did add in some atmosphere and didn't make it all building, it really adds for a very nice touch as well and gives the viewer a little taste of the scenery outside of Kino's window. Though, I have to say I wouldn't complain if it was all building, cause the building is so well done too~ =3 I have to say that with a pose like that, (Yesh, the parts I am talking about that you did is the part you added on with =x)
What can I say? I really like this wall. I have to say it is visually stunning and the texture of the background really captures the moment (to quote Markjo exactly, I couldn't agree more with that statement because it's true) and I personally have to say that I have yet to see a Kino wall from you that I don't like. (more of I need to comment on them too...) this wall is a favorite for me. Thank you so much for sharing this nice little number with us, Tama =D.
Out of all your Kino no Tabi walls, I like this one the best. Why? I have no idea but I just do.
Maybe its the unique backdrop it has or the scans just fits.
