This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
This is an unconventional wallpaper. I was inspired by Soviet propaganda posters and the oh so cool laughing man logo which is displayed whenever a hack is occurring in Standalone Complex.
The logo is vectorized, then vectors were made for everything else you see, many layers were needed to get the complex strokes/borders. From a distance the text resembles Cyrillic, but is quite readable up close. The font used was Nyet.
A parchment paper texture was added to give it that poster like feel.
Originally I had the logo centered, however whatever I did kept looking like a flag instead of a poster. I finally settled on this composition which gives the poster like look even in landscape orientation.
I love the style of this wallpaper. I have a background in Russian studies/linguistics, so I'm always drawn to the Soviet influenced designs. The Laughing Man logo makes the whole concept work.
Wow! This is a great wallpaper. I love the font for Ghost in the shell Stand Alone Complex. The background colors and the faded look. The laughing man is in a good resolution too. The lines and bubbles behind the text also looks really nice.
Very nice LM logo wall! I love the thought you put into it with the Soviet poster style, cuz' I've never seen another like this, even though it certainly does have to do with Ghost in the Shell! Thanks for sharing!
I love the laughing man logo...it's truly a great, simple design. Your use of color frame it perfectly...I love the texture and design of this wall. Truly one of my favorites.
I have a thing for the combination of blue and yellow (and its similar combos), so I can't help but enjoy this one, especially because it has good quality. I also enjoy the sun rays and streak of lines and circles. The only thing that bothers me would be the font, but this piece nonetheless good.
