This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Its been awhile since I've submitted something to AP, huh? I have increased my skill and gotten much better with working with resources. In this wallpaper, I tried to lower the brush work to one brush that wasn't default, and It wasn't even main brush work, lol. Anyway, I was trying to aim for the whole Ishida-spazz-pride moment, the ones he has all to frequently. So, I started with a simple gradient BG, used some Distort filters, used some smudging, pixel brushing, and TONS of color balances, photo filters, and gradient maps. I then used two C4Ds, and blurred them to create some depth while sharpening the main Ishida render(which is a colored-manga scan). After that, I added the text, and viola :]

EDIT ON FEBRUARY 23RD 2007 @8:38 EST: I just uploaded a revised version; bigger resolution (1280x1024) and since its bigger, had to work with re-sizing and editing of some of the stocks. Any problems, please send me a message. I am logged on 24/7, but I visit the site a lot so I'll get it. Hope this appeases to the bigger resolution dilemma :P
I love the brushes and the effect that they create in Ishida. The render you used is cool but I would like it more if it was ishida throwing a arrow with those kind of effects.

Nice brush effects. The colors match the Ishida scan. Nice background as well. This wallpaper is nice and simple. I like the idea of this wall. But you could of done a lot better. But great job, and keep up the work! ^____^
Very impressive work with the lighting, glow, and the sparkles :) The glow around Ishida is bright enough to suggest great power and intensity, but not too bright as to look totally out of place. One suggestion to improve on is perhaps adding in some more detail and things in the background to make it more interesting. You can still keep it dark, but having some things in the background would give it much more depth. But other than that, nice work!
As i always say, if you are not blue, you are not true, i love this wallpaper really a lot, you surely did an awesome work, i do not know much on the anime though, i hope to learn more about it soon, keep up the stunning work!

The brushes look great and the background is awesome, but my favorite part is the hair!XD The blue looks really good on Ishida! When I first looked at the wallpaper, I wasn't excited, but after downloading it and seeing it in full size, I realized how beautiful it is! *-* My least favorite part is his right arm. I think it has too much glow around it.

As people above have already mentioned, great use of the brush tool. Ishida here looks very sharp and well-defined in contrast to the background you created and it fits very nicely together. What really makes me love this wall so much is the blue aura around him. It seems its done almost perfectly, if not perfectly. Hehe, setting this as my background right now.
I really love this wallpaper. It just sparks at you. Nice use of the colors and great job on the render! It came out perfect. Ishida is one of my favorite characters. I love the effects used on here. I just have a problem with the font choice. That's it though. Great wallpaper. :3
The wallpaper looked really good when i saw the thumbnail version, but when i clicked on it, then i realised that the scan looked too sharp, hence the jaggy lines on it. Did you sharpen the image? Because it sure looked like you did. But other than that, i think you did the background really well with all those effects, and nice usage of the c4d's too. The text looks lovely, and the colors in this wallpaper fits the scan really well. It would've been a really awesome wall if you just fixed the scan...well tell me if you fix that ok, and i'll give you a fav if you do. ^_~
Wow wonderful wallpaper you have hear. I really like the colors, but as other people have siad. The scan is not the best quality. There are some parts with jaggy lines. So you are getting better and waiting for your next piece of work.
Darn me for not being able to full view, but w/e. 800x600 was okay for me. The colours and the effects were mixed in quite nicely. I really loved the wall, but the only thing that really caught my eye was the name. Is it just me, or is his name spelled wrong? 0_____o
