This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Guess...I am back again...well..maybe
Really something interesting yet weird this time. I am also wondering how I got this result. Very abstract yet grunge. the scan was pretty hard to extract correctly...I really had some hard time working on it. 3.5-4 hours if I remember correctly.
wierd...I still couldn't watch kino yet I like the style and chara so much for some reason. I usually try to pass my emotions to my walls like this one however usually I know the chara I am working with. well...kino is a big exception it seems.
I can't quite explain the feeling I guess...o.k...enough blah blah...
just feeling crap these days (yeah...still like that) so that must be why I end up with this kind of bg. my first time using a complete photo. On the back the tower and dome is a photo I got sometime ago. Other than that all brushes.
also there is pen space for icon maniacs all around...well hope you like it.
edit: just did something with that smoke...hope it's better now...I think it's not enough yet I know what you people mean. However I didn't seperate it with the scan so giving it a little opacity won't work. Cos the damn bg can bee seen thorough kino if I try -_-...and I am too lazy to rebuilt it again. I have to stick with giving a very little dept like meteorcloud reommended
edit 2 XD : hmm...I did the job with smudge tool this time... looks much more like a smoke now...o.k. it's 1 a.m here. fuku has other works to do here. *runs*
Nice wall fu, like the concept and the double bg fits pretty well in this wall. hmz..just a few things...first...the extraction still needs work, the edges aren't smooth and I still see edges at some places. it would be great if you added some depth in the smoke, that came out of the gun and use a texture on it, that would be cool. hmz...others are pretty nice.
Good: trees, bird, text. Kino's textures fit her in well with the grunge and the background.
Not so good: I don't like the ferris wheel. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere, or maybe on a city square, neither of which are places you expect to find amusement rides. Doesn't really make sense.
The smoke is still a bit of an issue as well... because there's so much detail/realism to your background with the dome and all, I think the smoke should have a touch more "real" smokie-ness added to it. You could certainly still leave it flat, just futz out the edges, I'd think.
Well, I think It's gorgeous. I really love the textures you used in this wallpaper. Somehow everything fits together... in some odd way. I love it. I really love the background. The trees and the gravestone looking things are great. The text is well done as well, the simpleness of it suits the wallpaper well. Anyhow, you take care. +fav.
This is beautiful. It's a delicious tone =) I can't come up with any other adjective for it.
Some Critiques:
- As others have already mentioned, the smoke stands out a little too much. However, this isn't exactly a bad thing - since it refocuses the viewer. People usually pay attention to what's brightest, and where the action's at. In this case, the smoke has both. It trails upwards almost in a tour of the main character, making a pretty neat media effect here. I like that. All in all, I doubt your intention was to make the smoke your main focus. But that would take a little more effort to chance with your layers situation as you said. For what it's worth, it turned out fairly nicely :).
Some Really Nice Points:
- I love your background. It fits perfectly with the scan. The color scheme, the title, everything presents the theme with powerful emotion.
- Your choice of background images is almost random, making this seem even more emotional. Reminds me of dramatic flashbacks in movies and such.
- This paper has deep feeling to it, as I mentioned in the last few comments ^^. Yet in its complex message, you managed to keep the entire peace almost simplistic. I really like that - not too much grunge, not too many background images (you leave spaces for the mind to wander around, much like taking a deep breath and looking up at the sky)..but just enough to make it complete. Nice.
I really enjoyed the wallpaper, and I hope to see more in the future :).
Btw - I can understand what you meant by pouring your feelings into your work. Personally I don't think I would be satisfied with a piece unless i *did* feel that way. I hope your grey days turn to bright yellow ones soon. Get yourself some chocolate ;) always made me feel better.
Wow...absolutely beautiful...the only prob I see is the smoke XD I think you could've added something to make it suit more to the old-feeling style. Besides that, this wall is excellent, I love it!
No complains. bg's texture rocks as usual. i really like the ferris wheel...makes the whole wall so eerie...great mood. the smoke seems stiff, but still good enough for me. guess i really like your wall bcoz i feel the emotions you poured into it. i think having uncertainties with this wall is very ok, coz i see confusion and doubt in the eyes of the character. the type when you have moral dilemmas...and the bg just puts the feelings into place, it's like pieces of the character's mind and s/he is reflecting and figuring things out...i guess... great wall. keep pouring and flooding your feelings into your wall, they do make a difference.

Kino´s Travels - The Beautiful World is amazing and non-conform television series.
I like the motive with ride since I saw american show Carnivale on HBO.
