This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Well, I didn't plan on making another last exile wallpaper. However, I was browsing scans last week and found this awesome one. Well she sat lonely in a blank PSD file for a while until I could figure out what to do for a background. I found a few more scans and made a composite background.
Smoke and contrails and fire are all painted by hand, there's about 40 layers total. I hope you enjoy, this time I made a super high-res widescreen, a 4:3 and a 5:4. I hope they all get uploaded properly!
*EDIT* to the people who say the background looks blurred, that's because it's behind her, that's how things work :)
*2ND EDIT* To the people complaining it is too tight, that is only to fit things in to make a 4:3 version, the widescreen is the intended aspect ratio. XD
Mm, the background looks somewhat blurred and to constrained/closed in from a design standpoint. A good job with the colors and clouds, and the scan looks very nice, but all in all, it could use a good deal more finesse. It's quite an ambitious idea for a wallpaper however, I have to admit, and you did a fairly good job considering that.
Really nice piece, i do get the feeling that the quality suffered from the excessive size though...
still a damn great piece
swell design and a very nice feel
i just think that sick of war could use a less romantic font...
keep it up mate
I like it, the colors are what really caught my eye. Awesome. I understand the blurring, just like using macro mode on a camera, blurs the background. Awesome wallie.
AH! I LOVE this wall! So Awesome! I love the atmosphere of it and I love the composition. It's an incredibly well done wall and I am overly impressed. Keep the great stuff comin'! *faves*
I don't speak English and for this reason I have to use a translation program that leaves my comment to be middle without sense.
The quality is simply stunning, I particularly don't see any problem in his/her work to be in widescreen, for sign he/she gave a more professional touch to the wallpaper because already several monitors exist in this format being sold, then it is totally justifiable his/her work it was done like this.
But for a better quality, arriving close to the perfection only lacks the character to be vetorizada, oh I would not write a comment and yes a book of gratitudes rsrsrs.
Congratulations for the great work and think with love about doing the vector.
An excellent wallpaper. I can see what is being said about the blurring, but that is actually one of the things I like about it; Lavie's character comes out very crisp. Perhaps given that she is "Sick of Waging War" the blurring is somewhat symbolic of her separation from the violence. The middle of the paper is the red from explosions and ties well with her hair. The brillance of the white is another defining and comforting aspect of the paper.
I like it, her face transmits the sadness which makes the background´s feel look right, if i had to say i dislike something it would be some smoke like splatters that look a bit out of place but overall its an awasome scene

Quit crying your eyes out, and baby come on
Isn't there something familiar about me?
The past is only the future with the lights on
Quit crying your eyes out, baby
Like the colors of the sky... very warlike ^_^
