As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!

I think it would look better without a shadow as ChaosKaizer said, but you should probably get rid of the writing underneath his feet and put it in a bottom corner.
Consider downloading some vector/grunge/retro brushes, and adding them in the background. The background is definitely too plain and boring. Also, the ipod looks like it's floating...o.O The shadows kinda wierd too, like everyone else has said...but yeah, you DEFINITELY need to spice up the background somehow.
The concept isn't overly original (actually its been done to death). At the moment this is sitting in the realm of vector + simple background. Execution is otherwise ok though.
