This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
All brushes, I found on DeviantArt. The scan was already cut out. I had found it on Planet Renders. It's a really great place to find renders. ^^
This is my first wallpaper so I spent a good few hours on this. I had started late during the night and now it's almost 6:30AM. There's a good reason why I chose Belldandy as my first wallpaper's subject. She's easy to work with. At first, the wallpaper wasn't intended to turn out this way. Far from it actually. There never was supposed to be rain or a strange otherworldly looking ocean.. O_o; I had just intended to have space and clouds, but I didn't like it that way, so I erased most of the clouds. Then I started fiddling with Belldandy. I really really wanted her to stand out against the dark background so I tried to make her look bright and glowy. I think I achieved that and did a pretty good job on that. My favorite part is her transparent wings. ^^ Very happy with how that came out.
Oh, and I'd like to explain why I made the background as dark as it is for Belldandy. It's because it really doesn't change the mood or how serene her expression is. Don't you think she shines even brighter when in darkness? I guess it's sort of symbolic in my eyes. ^^ I hope you can see that too.
Hate it? Like it? Suggestions? Although it is likely I will be unable to use any of the suggestions because I've only really started Photoshopping this year and my skills are rather limited.
REVISION: I blurred the horizon a bit where sky meets ocean. I don't know why I didn't do that before. Oo; Now it looks a lot more like a whole picture instead of two pieces slapped together. I also brightened the sparkles around her.
REVISION: Smudged the reflection a little more and brightened it a bit too. After all, it's raining and it's an ocean... It made sense to smudge it a bit more. Maybe I smudged it too much? O_o
REVISION: Changed the coloring a bit. You might not even notice the difference.
REVISION: Well, I added a more glowy light effect to the wings as suggested. Thank you Ramius for the idea. Not getting rid of the rain though. Oo;
The background is beautiful, the rainy sky and the sea looks really good. The character is looking good too, she fits to the background well. The text is very good, nice wallpaper.
This is an awesome wall, especially for a photoshop beginner. I am not sure what the cresent shaped, shield looking thing is though. Other than that this wall is basically perfect. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!
It's good i really like it. My only problem is that it feels as if she was droped on top of the background. Like I said the wall is still good but it just feels like she's added in instead of auectly being in the scene.
Quite a nice wallpaper, you've done some great work here. I would like to see more depth and perspective added to the clouds as to make it look as though the sea where stretching farther into the horizon, but all in all, very well done! thanks.
This very beautiful!
I think you did a awesome job on tht sea! I like the light effect!
Great job! keep it up! hope 2 see your another great wall in future! ^^ *add fav*

The light effects are stunning, graceful and flowing.
Water and reflection are like something from a painting, really shows
your talents.
I like the dark scene though it makes me think of her in a sad time
as if the sky is darkened from her sorrow, as it rains from like tears.
(she is a Goddess an all)
Looks almost as if she is about to fall into the water.
Sad but wonderful CHEERS.
