This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
I've been gone a long time, but before I went AWOL, I had this wallpaper up in a thread in session zero. I wasn't sure what I wanted done with it, and I've been tweaking it a bit now and then over the past few months. I'm still not 100% satisfied, but I can't think of what else I can do at the moment, and I like it well enough. I think maybe I should have made the background more in shades of blue or violet, but unfortunately, that didn't occur to me while I was making it. I'm more of a earth-tones person. ^_^
Someone in session zero mentioned that it might not be accepted because aya is bare-breasted. I answered then, and now too, that I'd been working on it for so long, I don't even notice anymore. Maybe it can be rated PG-15? ^_^
I love the colours and the images but the two Aya's in parrallel seem as though the image is tilting, the girl peering out of the earth tones is excellent and well done, perhaps it could be peering over someone else in bottom left?
I dunno, I like it but it seems to be missing something that could be making it Great
Euphor, thanks for your comment, but i'm not sure i understand what you mean by peering over someone else in the bottom left. do you mean i should reposition the girl who is at the window? or should i add some other image there?

Ungg... First of all, I myself is an amateur. So my comment will be a personal opinion.
1. I doubt the quality of the scan. I dunno if it's just me, but it's a bit, um.. grainy to me.
2. I personally think that your wall is a bit messy. The girl on the right side, well, yes, it's a bit too red for me. I don't think it's a good idea to blend those two girls together in a wall. At least, if you want to put them together, find another idea. And the bg.. I'm sorry. I'm afraid I have to say that I think you have to find another idea for your wall. Because if you ask me, there're lots of things that I'll definitely remove from your wall...
But, maybe it's just me. You know, as I say, I'm an amateur. Maybe it's just not suit my taste. Hope I'm not too harsh with my comment.. I don't have any intention to offend you. Good luck for your wall :)
Wow, the concept are very artistic i like the earth tone too XD
(here come the but)but...(i warning you) the aya looking at window dont mach verywall with the other, thera gretly contrastant but i thing something missing maybe de big aya's blending but i like it keep going
Thank you for your comment, Yuki. ^_^ I'm not offended. I'm glad you took the time to comment. But I just wanted to clarify - the original scan is black and white. I colored it, so it is deliberately grainy, and all the scratches and miscolored parts are also completely deliberate. i know most people like clear and crisp images; i do too, but not when i make wallpapers. ^_^ And yes, i understand it's noisy, but i like noisy wallpaper.
just for my own desktop, i'm pretty much happy personally how it turned out already, but i do want to share this wallpaper, so i think it would be worth it to change a few things so that it could be accepted in the gallery. i mean, it's a bit of a waste to make 50+ layers of effects and color and tone and just keep it for yourself. so, let's put it this way for anyone else who wants to help - say i take out the background. i can make a separate wallpaper out of that. what background would you suggest?
Great wall. but was wondering since the whole wall has an unfocused look, would it add a bit if you made the leaves through the window clear to make a contrast. I saw on several other walls that had a blurr or similar unfocused but had one specific area or item in full focus.
