I tried a lot of different backdrops for this but all were over the top,
besides i have this wallpaper on my desktop for almost a week and i found
it to be very easy to look at for long periods of time cause of the black
backround...so i tried to mantain the simplicity, elegance and overal
beauty that there was and instead of using something over compicated
with lots of layers and filters
(which i could use since i'v been working on photoshop for over 9 years now ;)
i did that flower like victorian style vector.
...I know it's realy bordering at being oversimplictic but realy i tried lots of
different things and nothing turned out well,
besides there's a certain quality about Shinku that shows best
in dark and simple yet elegant wallpapers...Beauty in Darkness i supposed ;)
i think it looks ok the way it is but im looking foward for
your opinion and comments :)
Hi,
the character is very good, in my opinion.
but you're right, you should add some pattern in the bg.
maybe lines of half and whole notes (only an idea when I saw it)
best wishes

I really like the scan you used but i think you need to add a little color to the background maybe some purple or red but not a lot i really love dark wallpapers [being a goth and all] really nice wallpaper otherwise.

Really nice. Good job on the vector!! I like the colours, but AP would totally smack this for being too simple. And it would still be nice add a little more to the paper anyways.
A really simple background would suffice...Since your title is about a rose, how about getting a design that invovles roses and then add a layer effect to blend it in to the background. So they can be there, but not really. And they can also add more to the simplicity and beauty of this wallapaper.

What was the point in putting in your comment again? O.o
anyways, i think you should probably do an overlay over the black with a texture to make it look a bit more sophisticated [? dunno if it's the right word to use here]. just an idea...not sure if it would work. and i love the vector. great work ^o^

..and as for adding a texture to the backround..i thought of it and i tried it
but like i said, i like to keep things simple and that was ruining what i had in
mind. And i do spend a lot of time infront of my monitor and if a paper has to many distracting elements it gets realy on my nerves :P
thanks though :) I'll see if i can do anything else to enhance it further but
most likely ill post it as it is and well..we'll see. ...later :D
Looks pretty cool to me. If you want it to be accepted in the gallery, maybe you should add something to the background. But for me, it looks good enough this way.
