This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
The original scan was a mess. I tried my best to clean it up, rezise, the whole drill... The orignal scan also had Sousuke and Kaname in front of an orange and pink sunset, which I liked, but it was full of text and the gutter. So I took out the background, pieced the two scans together, and proceeded to edit the two scans until they fit together.
Then I used stock images to create the background. I vectored the airplane, ocean and mountains (I am a beginner at vectoring, so I didn't want to attempt to vector the image of Sousuke and Kaname from the start; that airplane and the mountains and ocean are my first attempt at vectoring anything), and then found a font that semi-reminded me of clouds.
Comments and suggestions are of course welcome and appreciated. =)
I really like this, but the scan quality is putting me off a bit. The edges around the peeps are pretty rouch, and really use some cleaning, especially around the hair. The coast you made really looks great and fits in well. Nice job with the text and the plane- they look great for a first timer. The sea could benefit from a bit more depth and detail, but still looks ok. Great concepts, and really romantic. :)
I really enjoyed the anime and this scene stood out particularly well since it was so peaceful for once. I think your effort to recreate this scene was not bad but the scan is a bit weird. Chidori looks kinda funny and Sousuke is even worse... completely off the mark. Aside from that, the wallpaper is decent. The stock image didn't stand out too much which is good. One suggestion would be to make the water look more cartoon like. Good job!
I find most of the FMP wallpaers i find just lack character, but i like this one. Its a good image of the characters with plenty of space for Icons. Also, i love the little touch with the plane.
I like it. But the background with the sea and stuff is a bit bland, don't you think? The color is right, but maybe a little more detailed background will work better. Great work!
Very clear and simple wallpaper. It is soothing to the eye, lovely use of blue colours, the concept is very nice. But one thing that is bothering me is the full metal panic text ont he top, it is too out of place
