This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
The Jin and Mugen in this wallpaper were taken from the premiere Samurai Champloo manga chapter in Shonen Ace.. Scanned and edited myself.. The background lyrics and the foreground scroll were taken from the roman album.
The style this has it right to my taste. The mixture of textures add diversity while the choppyness reminds me of the show. The left side looked abit empty at first, but I now think it leaves space to put my destop icons without blocking out any of the energy. Good job! It's definately one of my favorites!
This wallpaper surely has everything in this series. You did a great job on editing the picture and adding the lyrics as a background. It does not look simple. However, I think this is what Samurai Champloo is about. Adding on my favorite list
Props for the original idea and interesting patchwork. Originality counts for a lot. Biggest issues that are sticking out to me is the really rouch extraction on some of the elements. Those edges need to be smoothed out, while still keeping the 2-d patchwork feel. Also, there is some nasty uneven fading and texture issues in parts of the wall. I can understand some of the textures, but others are clearly just un-repaired scans. Keep working on this one, it could be great.
Not too fond of how Mugen and Jin's details look blurry. The extraction needs work because I still see some white edges around the scan. Maybe you could vector/reCG them to make their details more defined and to fix the extraction problem? And...well, there are a lot of things about this wallpaper that I don't quite get (pardon me for being so slow). Did you intend the Mugen and Jin picture to look like a painting or something like that hanging beside a scroll? Or are those pretty japanese patterns a frame for your image (which doesn't really work, if that's the case)? I like the background behind Jin and Mugen, though I'm not sure if you intended that thing behind the text to look sliced into pieces. =/
Oh, and please compress your file. The file size (2.04mb) is extremely huge for 1600x1200. I don't think it's going to hurt the quality of your wallpaper if you compressed your file a bit.
Hmmm... yea it's a li'l bit blurry. The lyricks and the background are messed up a little. you could add some frame on the edges so that it doesn't look like it was just put together, sry ^_^;. The left side looks good, leaves enough space for icons.

Very nicely done, I really like the concept and the cloth-patterns you used in this wallpaper. My only complaint would be with the text and images behind the characters, they're a bit overwhelming and tend to down out Jin and Mugen (who are very simple looking and are easily drowned out). Overall, fantastic job though.
Errr thanks for the advice everyone.. Just a little note-- the background image with the lyrics and the chopped up samurai are unedited-- they were taken from the roman album.
