This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
The whole time I was making this wallpaper, I kept hearing that No Myth (Romeo in Black Jeans) song in my head :3 Flashback.
I remember when Gankutsuou came out, a lot of people were upset that it wasn't following the original story. However, I was ecstatic. What's the point of repeating the same old story in the same old way when you have an avenue as limitless of animation to bring any fantasy to life?
As soon as I saw this image, I scanned it and started working on it. Romeo x Juliet is proving to be anything but a cookie cutter version of the story, and because of that, I like it even more. I completely re-drew (or "vectored") the original scan, and even created the background using vectors and textures to make the stones look right. I was seconds from texturing it, but then decided this was just perfect with a glossy finish. It was tedious, but we'll just say this time it was a labor of love ;D
Romeo x Juliet wallpaper~~! Yay *___* I loved the original picture and I'm really glad people are making wallpapers from this series. I think it looks really great after the vectoring So clean lines and very good job on the stones and stuff in the background like you mentioned. If only the original scan wasn't so dark... (it's summer after all so having a dark wintry wallpaper isn't in the season ^^). I just realized the petals are sort of brigethened too, adding a magic effect *gooey* Overall, really good job. Thanks for making~ *heart*
I really like your wall...I love Romeo and Juliet story, even if it's a bit sad...I also like your wall because Romeo x Juliet is the last anime I'm watching..but I only watched the first episode...wonderful
Wow, this is beautiful. An absolutely perfect wall. (And I hear you loud and clear about not wanting the anime to follow the original completely... What's the point of that? Besides, THIS Juliet is a vast improvement over the original, in my opinion.)
I really love this wallpaper and this series! I believe they will be one of my favourite couples at the end of the series =). but for those of us who knows the story of Romeo and Juliet, we probably have a general idea whats gonna happen in the end. unless Gonzo surprises us in some way. oh well... =)
Although not very creative, I just love the way you "clean" scans so perfectly. I mean uh, I couldn't even tell it's been vectored if you didn't say so... it just looks awesome. I wonder how long did you work on it? Anyway, it's definitely going into my fav! Now I wish for a dual screen resolution of it! :P
Romeo X Juliet is an amazing anime. I love everything about this wallpaper! They are so good together. But sometimes I wonder why Juliet is like a fighter. I've only seen two episodes but anyways, I love the wallpaper!! =D
