This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
I decided to do a Shakugan no Shana wallpaper because I wanted to do a wallpaper focused around an element. When I think of an anime character relating to fire I think of Shana. This time I decided to use texture to stray away from vectoring for a while.
The concept of this wallpaper should be pretty obvious. You are staring at a stained parchment paper that has several holes burning away in the middle. Once you look through the burning holes you can see Shana. I had a lot of fun doing every aspect of this wallpaper. The one effect I had a lot of fun with was actually burning the wallpaper. I had to draw the small fire eating away the paper and then making the paper look burned around the edges.
Thanks everyone at SZ who commented on my wallpaper. It turned out 5 times better. There's a dramatic difference between the original and the final version you're looking at now. ^__^v
Mmm, nice idea
im pretty sure i havent see such a wall before
at least not during a veeery long time
everything looks crisp and tidy
i think that some other scan might have been better suited, but this one aint bad either
also i think that theres too much unused space all around, but on the other hand, thats good for icons
a handwritten title might me worth a try, but i guess that already had been tested
oh and i think that more black and a darker brown should have been used around the holes
they remind me more of bloodstains in some parts
a very thoroughly made wall, gotta love it
Very nice to see it finally finished, I like how you toned down the blur some (or maybe it's just me and not being as tired or something) and I think it's great now. Although the top line on the right side seems a bit odd to me. Great work and glad to see it up now.
Very nice work. I would have liked to see the edges of the paper glow a tad bit, giving the effect of warmth and burning, rather than just the yellow out line. The Shana scan you've used is very nice quality, and I think you have just the right amount of texture on the wall for the paper. Great job!
Looking nice mister...
i'm really diggin the composition, nice concept and well executed..
this version looks much better than the first one on sz.. ^_^
hope to see more walls from you ^^
