This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
I wanted to mke a red ninja wall for quite a long time ...
Here it is :
I cleaned and smudge parts of the scan to make the "painting strokes" smoother (the scan was pretty big but you were able to see the brush strokes )
And vectored the background from scratches except for the hawk (i used a screenshot as a reference )
Flowers are painted from scratches too so don't complain if you think they are crappy
I added texture to give a watercolorpaper effect ... i like how it turned out :p
Notes :
- the contrast abstract/simble background and detailed foreground is made on purpose ... it is a little experimentation of mine .. i just wanted to know if it works
- the very pale blue thingie right to her sleeve is the fuji mount .. you'll probably see it better if i post the background version i think i'll post it in my site :p
I think there will be no simple screen version because of the scan positionning but hope you'll like it anyway
Really like the texture work that you did here :) The background looks really nice, with the textures mixed with the vectored elements. I don't like the text positioning that much though, because it kind of floats in the middle of the wall. Otherwise, very sweet wall ^^ +fav

Beautiful composition, i think your experimentation was a success, I agree that the text seems like an afterthought but it's such a minor crit on an outstanding wall, great work!
Nice... I think you also made the otherone where it's just her body ;x. i swear, that game is horrible but whoever drew the chick knew how to draw her ahahaha
Very fluid texture, looks like those watercolor ones. People seem to be going for the jap sun more often I've noticed...The eagle...I have no idea..I haven't watched this anime xD.
