This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Well phew this thing is done, i felt bad for shunning omni/devil/party van out while whoring out on my vectory project (which i havn't finished yet) that i decided to take a breather and make something fun in an abstract way. So i present to you my version of the omni+carbon collab (<-----insert AIDS here)
well explaining this wall, you guys saw 2 of my vectors but not the other ones. these things were cooking on my hard drive for about 2 months, and nearly destroyed my laptop since the files were SO HUEG! yes HUEG. so yea this whole thing took about 2 full days to do plus some hours for final touches. it has around 100 or so layers for the BG and the vectors have over 800. you can't see the grayserg since i had to scale it down, but it's there. scans were taken from here. everything you see in the wall is 100% vectored meaning NO BRUSHES! while maintaining our 'circles' theme. i got the idea of the wavy stuff behind the vectors from tatekane's in leaps and bounds wall and some wall from devianart that had the same thing (made it look like snakes from her hair), used the pencil tool in illus to draw it freehand. the only brush i used was for the stamp behind devil's sig. overall i think we achieved something here, maybe some epic win (in before fail)
the wall is based on the gorillaz - demon days cover art but my music inspiration was a mix of arctic monkey's and some scarface "push it to the limit"
anyways i'm uploading the dual screen version cuz this place allows it and it just looks sooo schmexy! so yea omni's version is coming soon. but i'm spent. additional versions below.
Overall I'd have to say this is a great example of pop art put to appropriate use. You get to appreciate the different textures, patterns...Everything vectored? what a diligent artist =D
Love the Orihime vector - I think its cool that you didn't use any heavy lines for the hair and eyes.
also liked the cityscape? at the right side.
The stunted swirl things behind the characters are clearly a cheap copy of Tatekane's idea from her In Leaps And Bounds wallpaper (they even have the same imperfections in size near the tips), which makes me wonder what else isn't original.
The vectors are nice, but the eyes look kind of blurry.
It's cool to get ideas from any outside source, 'cos that's what most artists do, but when you do it so blatantly it's usually nice to at least link the original piece ^^;
Overall it looks cool but the swirls jumped at me and told me it looked a lot like the ones in my in leaps and bounds wall as misu said even the imperfections are there the whacked curves i wasnt able to do properly

I would reckon just because it was not as original doesn't mean be blatantly copied everything into the wall as "inspiration" how can one say that? I don't see the way they think and this is by far, the best thing yet.
Hell yeah, I like this even better than the rukia/ichigo. the look of these are so idunno, deviant stylie and fresh. thanks for the flipped wide-screen too. +fav

and i would have put that incredible design that you did on the right side of the wallpaper somewhere near the chars ... i just dont like that big hole between the chars and the design stuff >< gomenne :D
well i have said what i dislike but i think this wallpaper still rocks , the texture is well choosen and the vectors are well made ... the dual screen version is even better :) gj!just please dont copy next time :'D

This wall looks cool but I think the right hand side is much too distracting for my taste. All the swirly lines make my eyes weird >_<. Anyways, its still an awesome wall xD!
