This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
I wanted to strangle myself after trying to vector this scene. I. Can't. Vector.

On a lighter note, this is one of my favorite scenes from Sailor Moon are and so I went to look up the episode and screencap-ed it. Usagi's crying in a telephone booth, for those who haven't watched it.
SPOILER (click to view)
Mamoru starts having nightmares. So in order to protect Usagi, he purposely says things to hurt her to end their relationship.
I don't know if there was rain in the actual scene, but I wanted a rainy, sort of watercolor-y feel to it. >_>; It's a very different style than what I usually try. Plus, it's my first time attempting rain, so it might look a little funny?
The vectoring took about 12 hours, and the rest of it another 6. I wanted to keep the text simple and unintrustive. Borrowed some of the the screencap's colors, others I moused in myself.
There are times when I really wish I had a tablet, and this was one of them. XD
No difference? :)) You should tell you mom to have her eyes checked :)). Nice vector.. cause that screencap looks soo crappy. You made it look really soft and nice. Good job :)
LOL, oh come on, the difference IS visible from Mars XD
You've made some great walls lately, you know that? Don't feel bad about your vectoring skills, for you definitely have the skills! ^-^
I love this wallpaper very much, the scene is so sad, and yet beautiful

That is a pretty darn sweet concept for your wallpaper; I really dig it. Your wallpaper manages to envoke warm feelings, nostalgic feelings with the beige that dominates this wallpaper. Normally, such an overwhelming dominance of one color would be a detriment to a wallpaper, but this is certainly an exception and I feel the colors are executed perfectly. Now while the beige and greens are nostalgic, the blues give ambivalence to the piece giving a contrasting sad/emotional tone.
The red of the phone booth is skillfully vectored, colored and placed resulting in good composition and contrast. Additionally, the water color look seems visually authenthic and gives good texture to your wall.
Fantastic wallpaper (I'm not even an SM fan and I can still get into this!), gonna favorite this!
P.S. You aren't bad at vectoring, not at all! I failed horribly at my feeble attempt to vector, but this is certainly something else!
I love it. I like how to made the effect of rain without over doing it, and the whole tone is very soft. Really nice work. And don't worry about those ratings at all. Wall what you care about, and people will like it. Some of the best walls go unappreciated. Fav!
This is really great..
i saw the original screenshot.. and i must say that you really did a great job on this wallpaper.
THe colors that you used are really cool in the eyes. So its not disturbing to look at. NOthing much to say. How you did this is just fantastic..
Im gonna fav. this even though i'm not a fan of sailor moon.
HOpe to see more from you. and keep improving.. you're doing great
Omg, I saw the original screencap and then looked at your wallpaper again and I am so amazed that you made that blurry mass of colours into such a wonderful piece of wallpaper! I love the rain and the words! It fit so well ^^

Tools: Photoshop CS2, encephalon [or lack thereof XD]
Time: 18+ [No, not rating. Time. Time. :P]
Original screencap: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v408/SueAnna/d69e19d9.jpg
When I was done, I showed it to my mom, and then showed her the original screencap. She blinked at the screen and said, "I don't see the difference."
I really am trying to improve in skill, (and on those C- ratings). XD Thus, tips/advice will be received with violent affection. ^^
Other than that, worked super hard on this, so I really hope you like it. < 3
